12.01.2022 A smile vs a frown There is no scientific evidence that supports the old saying "a smile uses less muscles than a frown", as everyone's facial compositions are different and use different amounts of effort to express each emotion. However, generally speaking most people smile more than frown. So in relation to this, smiling takes less effort as the muscles are stronger. #toothdaytuesday

03.01.2022 Citrus fruits are full of vitamin C and high in fibre, but their high acidity is hard on the enamel. When tooth enamel erodes away, there’s nothing that can be done to fully restore it. Without this protective layer, you’ll be more susceptible to cavities and experience pain when exposed to changes in temperature from hot or cold beverages. For your own comfort and the protection of your teeth, don’t allow the acid to sit in your mouth. Rinse or brush after eating or drinking citrus. #toothdaytuesday

03.01.2022 The festive season brings about spending time with family and friends, and all the delicious food that comes with it! But did you know that those mouth-watering cheese platters may actually be helping your teeth?! Research has shown that eating cheese can prevent decay! Several magic ways cheese can help with oral health include: Chewing stimulates saliva flow, washing away bad bacteria from the teeth Neutralising acids caused by sugar and bacteria before they can start t...o form holes Both casein and whey protein and a high calcium and phosphorus content found in most cheeses prevent softening of enamel which can lead to decay Restoring the natural pH balance in your mouth which we know can be enamels biggest enemy! However, like all the good foods in life; be mindful to eat cheese in moderation with a balanced and nutritious diet. #WellnessWednesday
