Many of us have heard of it in reference to being VERY sick (swollen lymph glands in the neck, armpits or groin) and how we need a healthy immune system to ward off colds, infections..., diseases etc. The Lymphatic System consists of lymph nodes which are the battle fields in the body where most infections are fought. It works to maintain healthy immunity, to drain stagnant fluids, regenerate tissues and detoxify the body by filtering out foreign substances and toxins. ******The Lymphatic System DOES NOT have a pump like our blood Circulatory System does (where the heart creates a beat which helps push and pump the blood around our body). Instead, the Lymph System requires daily movement of the body (especially our muscular system), and proper breathing, in order to move lymph through the lymphatic vessels to pass it through the filters in our lymph nodes. HOW DOES EXERCISE HELP YOUR LYMPH SYSTEM? Exercise or activity (doing things you love while you are in motion) is critical to keeping your lymph system open and flowing. When your muscles are moving this also helps move and pump the lymph within its vessels. Walking, running, swimming, bike riding, yoga etc, stretching and strength training are great ways to keep the lymph flowing. Dancing with lots of up and down movement or rebounding is particularly helpful because the vertical motion of exercise opens and closes the one way valves that comprise of the lymphatic system and can increase lymph flow by up to 15-30 times. Likewise, deep breathing is very important. Proper movements of air through the lungs also helps move and pump fluid through the Lymphatic System while providing it with fresh oxygen. At class today we did this yoga posture (adapted)... yes we did the best we could... basic stretching The alternative...SITTING DOWN too much, chatting... Well (this is what sedentary Australians do) it may look great, its most social and fun.....BUT (at what cost) We benefit greatly from stretching, strengthening, challenging ourselves, ALL TO MUSIC...and having fun and socialising... And When you get home you're so glad you did it...came out, had a go and feeling quite proud of yourself. P.s Men most welcome too
12.01.2022 Perhaps thee biggest issue for most people is ENERGY..... i.e NOT HAVING ENOUGH. Feeling tired too much, lethargic...... wanting / having to go to bed early and then waking too early and getting frustrated at that cycle.... How to change that...... well a HUGE question that I answer holistically. - clean up your diet of junk foods and addictions (alcohol and sugar), eat healthy, lose weight - straighten out your life...by doing more things for YOU that nurture you - Fun exercises that uplift and support your body functioning - spiritual / religous connection to give more MEANING in your life...something to believe in / have faith in and turn to in dark night of the soul times. - hugs and love....get and GIVE as much as you can... you be the instigator and Lastly GRATITUDE for your life.... say thank you to yourself countless times a day..... as most of the time we are affirming LACK and wanting more / something else..... blessings sisters and brothers.."Christ you know it ain't easy" (John Lennon lyric) These are extraordinary times where we are all experiencing similar challenges and fears..... we MUST collectively lift each other up * My exercise class to music is a good start...WEDNESDAY mornings in Albany...$10 well spent.... its holistic, soulful and loving

Dancing has been widely and publically understood as a form of bodily exercise with something very important to contribute to our mental state. Dancing has had nothing to do with dancing well, being young or revealing ones stylishness. Dancing provides us with a primordial occasion on which this basic idiocy can be publicly displayed and communally celebrated. On a dance floor filled with comparable idiots, we can at last delight in our joint foolishness; we can throw off our customary shyness and reserve and fully embrace our dazzling strangeness and derangement. In a group situation, we feel a part of something far more important than ourselves, a supportive community in which our individual errors and doubts will cease to weigh so heavily and punishingly upon us. Through a dance, we glimpse a huge project: how we might more regularly experience ourselves as vulnerable in front of other people in order to become better friends to ourselves and more generous and compassionate companions to others. 06.01.2022 WHAT HAVE I LEARNT (as leader) FROM this LOCKDOWN-TIME/CLOSURE OF MY Exercise Class 1. My body has declined / muscle tone, vitality, strength..noticeable stiffness 2. My motivation to exercise at home has been difficult and only really getting better after 4-6 weeks 3. I am a social being and love to mix with people and miss YOUR companygroup work motivates 4. Having fun together is sooo important... 5. Just simply MOVING THE BODY TO MUSIC , USING EVERY MUSCLE AND BEING FREE TO MOVE UNIQUELY is the main point.what we NEED to do as often as. 6. For without the above there is a decline in physical and mental health (anxiety/FEAR arising...body suffers) 7. Our body's Immune strength is worth strenthening/cultivating...its our GREATEST ASSET....insufficient immune function = great susceptibilty to disease.... *the body's lyphatic system needs exercise to circulate the body's lymph defences. Fun and joyfulness is a life line/panacea! I want regular members to pause to re-assess why they exercise AND HOW WE ALL NEED TO JUST DO IT/exercise!!! 04.01.2022 The EXERCISE CLASS successfully completed its move to THE SENIOR CITIZENS CENTRE venue this morning 9 a.m....... thank you to all involved for making it enjoyable and loving! AFTER the class we all went to the CENTRE dining room for tea/coffee... and had socialising time over a platter of nibbles (beautifully supplied by SCC)...... (inclusive in price of $12 pp So we've added formal socialising (incl social distancing too).... to our class agenda.........
