23.01.2022 I've set up a GT Karting Albany Facebook page that will be updated regularly. Please check it out and share it round with your friends. https://www.facebook.com/GTKartingAlbany

19.01.2022 The Albany City Council has done an excellent job with this weeks 100 Year ANZAC celebrations. With a lot of excitement and entertainment happening around Albany. With an international race circuit at Albany we could bring this level of excitement to Albany every 12 months stimulating our local economy for the next 50+ years - just have a look at what it has done for Bathurst.

17.01.2022 Please comment on whether you support the concept and how it would benefit you and the community as well as those who oppose the idea and why they don't think it would benefit them or the community. Thank you.

11.01.2022 It's been a long time between updates. We've received a surprisingly positive letter back from the Conservation Commission regarding their thoughts on the concept. They are not interested in a race circuit in their national parks but would not stop it being set up on Albany City land such as the Sandpatch area as long as it doesn't interfere with existing natural attractions or neighbouring national parks. See below for their response

09.01.2022 Welcome Everyone to the AlbanyGT Facebook page. This page has been set up to help promote the concept of building a World Class Motorsport facility here in Albany. Motorsport is an articulation of entertainment but this proposal goes deeper as this affects an entire town. This concept has the capability to transform the economic infrastructure and provide everyone with an opportunity to benefit from the increased exposure to tourism, increased job opportunities and increased ...business prosperity across a broad range of areas. From construction businesses through to accommodation, restaurants, pubs, graphic artists, printing, marketing - right down to local modelling opportunities and corporate sponsorships. It would also increase confidence in businesses wishing to develop areas like the Middleton Beach Esplanade. We have already caught the interest of a UK based international Motorsport Film and TV production company that would like to commission a documentary television series showing the project from start to finish if it were to go ahead and promote it to World TV. We would then have the draw-card and contacts to invite the likes of Ferrari to Albany and Celebrities to open the facility with great fanfare placing Albany on the world map from day one. Albany has the location assets, construction expertise and ability to create a self-sustained world class motorsport race circuit and tourist drive attraction that would provide perpetual marketing benefits for 50+ years via TV, print and internet media. Lastly, this would speak to all walks of life in the Albany community allowing people of all ages to drive around the race track as a tourist drive and enjoy designated picnic areas, whale watching lookouts and boardwalks. We understand the concept has massive challenges and environmental hurdles but if the community show they want it and the respective authorities are willing to support then we can turn it into a reality. Thank you, Tom Kennedy.

07.01.2022 POSSIBLE LOCATIONS Possible locations that have the 4 core elements to make it an international success. Spectacular views, elevation changes, accessibility & distanced from residential areas. However, they also have massive environmental hurdles. Aerial photos supplied by Halsall Photography www.halsall.com.au... MT MARTIN Mt Martin has magnificent views looking out over the city and the islands and is distanced from residential neighbours. It is a natural extension from the tourist friendly Emu Point with access available from Gull Rock Rd. However it is also a botanical garden and Class A reserve.

04.01.2022 An enquiry has been put through to the Conservation Commission to ascertain whether they would support the location of the SandPatch area. They have made it clear that the Mt Martin and Gull Rock sites are not going to be supported because of their high conservation value. The CC will be looking at whether the location affects any of the areas surrounding Sandpatch that DPaW maintain on their behalf. Depending on their response I'll be looking at talking with the other major authorities that can stop a project of this nature like the Water Corp, EPA and then finally the City of Albany.

01.01.2022 I've had discussions with the District Manager from the Dept of Parks & Wildlife (DPaW) in Albany. Strangely enough they were only just discussing how Albany desperately needs something to get the economy moving forward. Yet even with them recognising this they weren't too keen on the use of the Gull Rock National Park as a Race Circuit/Toursit Drive and said they would oppose it if it was to go be put forward to the Conservation Commission as they feel it is of too high a ...conservation value. DPaW manages the Conservation Commissions assets on their behalf. Correct me if I'm wrong, the Gull Rock and Mt Martin areas were originally vested to the Kalgan Progress Association and they felt they couldn't manage the area so they handed it over to the City of Albany who couldn't be bothered to manage it and around 2005/6 it was swallowed up by the Conservation Commission to be wrapped up in a bureaucracy that will never allow anything to be done because they are above Govt. Ministers and even the State Premier cannot tell them what to do. What DPaW did say was that a location they would feel is more suitable would be over at Sandpatch/Windmill farm which is land controlled by the City of Albany. Here is a summary of the Gull Rock layout presented to DPaW for your interest. Tom
