25.01.2022 COVID-19 At this stage, WAs cultural institutions remain open under social distancing conditions. It is important to note advice from Federal and State Health authorities is being continually updated as the COVID-19 situation develops.... The State Government continues to provide advice to cultural institutions and other businesses to assist them to put appropriate measures in place to protect patrons and staff. The State Government is following the nationally consistent approach to COVID-19, and is taking advice from the Department of Health and National Cabinet. We will continue to take advise regarding our operations from the WA and Federal Governments.

25.01.2022 Our new Website is completed and uploaded. Looks amazing and simple to use. Our sincere thanks to Tom our web designer for another excellent job.

25.01.2022 Hello everyone, great news the new updated website has been uploaded for the world to see. Tom has done a brilliant job as usual. He has undertaken A massive project with the new Members area. A new feature of this site. It is an extensive Members only area that covers back issues of all the Societys magazines, along with access to the Societys photographic collection. A great reason for Membership if you arent already. Members need to contact the office for a pin to enter the Members only area. please note same pages maybe not available at all times as the website is still undergoing work. www.historicalbany.com.au

21.01.2022 On Monday the Society introduced measures to help keep our volunteers and customers as protected as possible from COVID19. We apologise in advance if some of these measures may make us seem a little impersonal when visiting our venues. Please keep in mind it is for everyones wellbeing. We urge our customers above all else, PLEASE DO NOT PRESENT AT OUR VENUES IF YOU ARE FEELING UNWELL. Many of our volunteers are seniors and are therefore more susceptible to this virus and the very serious complications it can cause. It is our priority to remain open and try to keep to normality as much as possible.

21.01.2022 Please take the time to visit this amazing museum at the Wesley Church in Duke Street. The Museum was the brain child of the Rev. Judy now retired. It is well worth a look and also houses some very informative historical church records. The Historical Society is very proud to support this venture. https://www.facebook.com/AlbanyWesleyWeddingGownMuseum/

12.01.2022 Today we received the terribly shocking news that one of our longest and most dedicated volunteers passed away totally unexpectedly last night. We are all shocked and cold at the sudden passing of Sue. Our heartfelt and deepest sympathy to Mike and family. We cant begin to understand how you must all feel. The world has lost a truly wonderful caring, compassionate and lovable lady. Albany has lost a little ray of sunshine and will be all the poorer for it. May she Rest In Peace.

11.01.2022 Wonderful sight this morning at PTC park.

09.01.2022 Thank you to my amazing team. Even with our venues closed we continue to work at the office. One of our latest projects is undertaking the huge job of copying of the Albany Historical Society magazine back to the 1960s For Residents at our aged care facilities in Albany. Hopefully this will help pass time for these people who are totally confined at the moment.

09.01.2022 Great turn out for the Christmas Party. Great time had by all.

08.01.2022 Our sincerest thanks to Rebekah for the wonderful painting of our carts and farm machinery.

05.01.2022 Our local Members may have seen a recent newspaper article regarding the site of Major Lockyers flag poll. We hope to discuss the possibility of improving the underwhelming interpretation on the site. we have for many years tried to work to improve such an important and historically significant site to Western Australia. Unfortunately previous attempts and commitments seem to have failed. We are very pleased that Mr Andrew Sharp the CEO of the City of Albany has agreed to meet with the Executive of the Society and Mr Colin Lockyer, later in the week to see what can be achieved.

05.01.2022 The Gardens at PTC are better every day.

04.01.2022 A great Holiday Season has seen us able to replace the terrible old board room chairs.

02.01.2022 Hello All, hope everyone is doing well after our lockdown. I would like to take this opportunity to address all those people who are emailing the Historical Society to see if our venues have reopened. Albany, is not exempt from the current Western Australian Government restrictions. Just because you may decide to come to Albany for a holiday things are still closed the same as they are anywhere else in WA. Museums and Galleries at this stage have been told that we may only... re-open under phase 3 which is still approximately three weeks away. If you plan a trip down south apart from natural attractions you will be able to do no more than visit some stores that have reopened and you will have to make bookings for restaurants due to the limit of only 20 patrons per venue. Stay safe and we will advise when we are able to return to normal operations.

01.01.2022 We take this opportunity to wish all our Customers and Volunteers a happy and safe Easter. We are open at both the Albany Convict Gaol and Patrick Taylor Cottage every day over Easter.
