08.01.2022 CALLING ALL PAST MEMBERS!!!!! The Albany Dojo would like to see the return of its old members no matter what grade, if any, you achieved or how long you have been away from Karate. We understand that life can throw all sorts of things at you that stop you training. If you would like to return but think that you have left it to long, please read the following frequently asked questions. WOULD I HAVE TO GRADE AGAIN? NO, you would be asked to wear a white belt until you are c...onfident with your Kata and basics, then you are able to wear the belt of your grade that was achieved. HOW LONG WOULD I HAVE TO WEAR THE WHITE BELT? That would depend on how often you train at the Dojo, if you trained the norm at twice a week and depending on the grade you had achieved it could be a few months. Remember the white belt you wear is for your own safety, for example if you were a black belt and turned up wearing that belt a member of the Dojo not knowing you have been away from training might make an attack with speed thinking that you could cope. I HAVE NOT DONE MUCH WITH REGARDS TO KEEPING FIT, HOW WOULD I COPE WITH THAT? Your Sensei will fully understand and wearing the white belt also helps to start your fitness again slowly. I HAVE FORGOTTEN SO MUCH THAT I LEARNT, WILL I GET THAT BACK? Absolutely! I ACHE NOW WITH AGE, WILL THAT INTERFERE WITH MY TRAINING? It might and training might also help get rid of those aches. As we age aching muscles and joints are common, you would not be on your own as Sensei Towns has been training a long time and at almost 70 years of age understands that the older body cant perform as a younger body, but with regular training and determination you would be surprised at what you and your body can achieve. I DONT THINK I WOULD FIT INTO MY GI ITS BEEN THAT LONG. AM I ABLE TO PURCHASE A GI AT THE DOJO? Yes, you can train in track pants and a T-shirt until you wish to purchase a GI. COST? $100 per month or $15 per lesson. BUT all returning members will receive the month of March FREE!! So what are you waiting for? Give Gibson a call on 0419099326 or just turn up at the Dojo, we would be very pleased to see you. And remember, if some of you are thinking you are too old, think again, its all in the mind!

05.01.2022 SHOTOKAN KARATE FOR BEGINNERS WHAT IS SHOTOKAN KARATE? A Martial Art established by Gichin Funakoshi who introduces Karate to the Japanese mainland in 1922 and is now practiced all over the world.... WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BENEFITS? Increased mobility, Gaining strength and power, Improved flexibility, Improved stability and co-ordination, Mental concentration, Stress relief, Expands the individuals physical and mental capabilities, Self confidence and discipline. The hardest thing for most beginners is not the training but turning up for the first class. They might feel awkward or embarrassed when there is really no need as they are always welcomed. (Without the beginner there is no future in Karate). NOTHING OF REAL VALUE IS EVER OBTAINED WITH EASE. TSA remains firmly rooted in a strong martial art tradition, emphasizing lifetime training for a healthy mind and body, rather than strictly as a sport. WHAT AGE CAN A BEGINNER START SHOTOKAN KARATE? To practice in the adult class the age starts at 14 years old through to any age (Age is no barrier!). WHO WOULD BE YOUR SENSEI (TEACHER)? Gibson Towns, 6th Dan and Hayden Jones 4th Dan. COST? $100 per month or $15 per lesson TRAINING TIMES? Monday and Wednesday 7pm-8.30pm Friday 6.30pm-7.30pm (Advanced) WHERE? Corner of Campbell Road and Cockburn Road, Albany, WA CONTACT?
