22.01.2022 Astro wedding photography. Finding the right conditions is one of the big challenges for this type of wedding shoot. If the moon is too bright, the stars can be overwhelmed. If the spot is too close to a city, the light pollution affects how the night sky looks. If its too cloudy, nothing shows up. Photo Credit: John Winters from Austin Photography Society ... 22.01.2022 'Cosmic Last Supper Rhyolite, Nevada - Ghost town with flair. Empty hulks of the three-story bank, the general store, and smaller buildings remain. Also, there is a great looking train station, as well as some other well-preserved ghost town ruins. Besides the ghost town itself, there are several weird and bizarre works of art strewn around the desert landscape. Part of the Goldwell Open Air Museum, several artists have installed permanent sculptures starting in 1984. Probabl...y the most interesting is the 12 life-sized disciples patterned after The Last Supper, built-in 1984 by the Belgian artist Albert Szukalski. They consist of empty flowing robes (made of fiberglass), so they appear to be ghosts. Stacked/Blended. 21.01.2022 South by West The weather was unspectacular and the sea becalmed with wispy, slow moving clouds as I stood considering the setting. As a local I am very familiar with the West Pier, and the excellent images that have been taken of it. ... I decided to compose this photograph with the ruins off-centre to add a strong graphical element from the vertical piles. Due to the still environmental conditions I knew that I would use a long exposure which helped to introduce some texture. The portrait orientation allowed the beach, sea and sky to be similarly proportioned. I enjoyed the challenge that this scene presented to me. To find a different composition, to stand still long enough and not kick the tripod to expose the shot correctly. I hope you enjoy the results. 21.01.2022 Shane Studte of the Adelaide Photography Group - @shanes_photographic_journey- captured the milky way from the Southern Hemisphere. The long exposure enhances the silky water effect around the rocks which have enough exposure for the viewers eye to be drawn to the ragged edges of the rocks then drawing your eye up to the milky way. 20.01.2022 This was shot in the late afternoon at Elkhorn Slough, just north of Monterey, California. My son and daughter-in-law and I had spent the early afternoon kayaking the slough. Before heading for home, I took them for a drive around the slough, and wanted to take them to a park near the top of the slough, but it was closed. So we parked alongside the road for a few pics instead. Photo Credit: ... 19.01.2022 A good example of the rules of composition here from Christian, using both the rule of thirds and symmetry, plus a nice sunset as well. This was my first trip to Severn Beach. 18.01.2022 Asif has been practicing Milky Way photography for several weeks. Asif is also the model in this self portrait image. He had to take multiple shots to get the position right. 14.01.2022 Great Heron In the early mornings are typically the best time for bird photography because birds actively look for food for themselves and their offspring. Set your camera up for a fast shutter speed. By shooting in Manual Mode and setting the shutter speed to 1/1000 of a second or higher, you will get sharper images because a fast shutter speed will stop the action of the bird's movement and stop any camera and lens shake or vibration. 13.01.2022 This photo was taken at Polihale Beach park on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. I had tried several shots of the surroundings at various angles. I talked my friend into hanging out a bit to see the sunset as the clouds and hint of earlier color looked promising. I'm happy we did as I walked away with several nice shots. I have been practicing using a longer exposure to soften up the photo and in this case it worked. Here are my settings: ISO 100, 18mm, F11, 2.0 sec. 04.01.2022 A couple of weeks ago, Gloria attended a meetup at Sunset Cliffs in Oceanbeach. The sky was a bit smokey due to the recent fires. Gloria decided to take the stairs down to the water. The tides were low so she was able to get somewhat in the inner part of the landing. The shot happened by chance because Gloria is afraid of water. She was brave and decided to walk across the rocks and stand against the wall. She then patiently watched many people come down the stairs. Then all ...of a sudden she saw this beautiful girl coming down the stairs with her surf board. She immediately started taking shots as soon as she got to the bottom. Gloria was only able to get 3 shots because she disappeared into the water. All the way home Gloria had that feeling that this was The Shot We love your photo as well, Gloria. Thank you for sharing. Equipment: Canon 6d and my 50mm 1.8 Nifty fifty. Lightroom to bring the colors out in the sky. The sun clouds are all in their natural state at that very moment. 01.01.2022 As a general rule, to freeze movement in photography choose the fastest shutter speed that you can. Aim for at least around 1/250 sec but remember you might need to go faster.
