20.01.2022 Hectic day yesterday. Two call-outs: first to tow a cement truck that caught fire on Muir Hwy into Mt Barker; the second to recover a truck with a transmission fault back to the SLR workshop in Albany from Bremer Bay. 600 km for the day. Certainly kept our stand in driver, Burtie, on his toes (or backside). Great work Burtie.

20.01.2022 Our Tow Truck is always at the ready! Last saturday we received a call from a client whose truck was showing a clutch fault. Our mechanics were quickly on site but the clutch was not in a good way, so the owner asked if we could tow it to Perth as he needed the trailer back that night for another delivery trip the next day. Even though our tow truck driver was in Perth for the weekend, he returned to Albany, collected the tow truck and hooked up the prime mover and trailer and returned to Perth ready for the next day's run. 19.01.2022 Good week this week, no crashes (which is always good - actually it seems the Great Southern drivers have been very attentive this summer grain carting season with very few if any crashes involving cars and trucks) and few breakdowns. We did manage one rescue however, prime mover lost its turbo with a full load of lime. Needed to jack up the trailers and hard-bar the PM out, then swing another PM in so it could get under way again. We then pondered how best to pick up the ori...ginal PM, which could involve lifting the front from the bullbar or the rear from the back chassis, both of which were very problematic. Fortunately we had taken Tom, one of SLR's mechanics, to show him the ropes of towing and after connecting air to the PM and disconnecting the driveshaft, we were able to hard-bar the truck back to town with Tom steering. Had to go easy as no power steering, just the good old arm-strong method. #albany #towing #trucktowing #heavy #primemover #tow #breakdown
