07.01.2022 Thank You Jenny Davies from the PAYC for this pic at the Howden Family plot. That’s me on the far left! William and Agnes Howden had 7 children. Sadly 5 died as children. Their first baby died in 1860 just 6 months old. 4 died in the space of just 4 weeks in 1872. The 2 surviving Howden children out lived their parents, who passed away within 2 years of each other, William in 1894 and Agnes in 1896. The 6th child of the Howden’s, Arthur died in 1900 at 19 years old. Only 1 child, Frederick survived to adulthood, and even he died relatively young at age 35.

07.01.2022 A wonderful tour yesterday with our terrific guests. A special thank you to Linda Rose and her family, and most importantly Aaron who celebrated his 20th birthday with us! Thanks to Eric for his presentation and Mick..aka ‘Doug’,who was on ‘crowd control!

05.01.2022 Just a friendly reminder to our guests taking part in our Alberton Cemetery Walking Tours on Saturday 31st October, that due to COVID19 rules, wearing a face mask is mandatory for all outdoor activities and gatherings unless you have a medical reason/exemption or are under the age of 12. We will provide hand sanitiser on the day, along with mozzie repellent and water for our guests. Please remember your umbrella in case of showers. The grounds will be wet from all this rain we are experiencing this week so gumboots, if you have them, would be advantageous! Looking forward meeting you all on our first tours of the season.

04.01.2022 Thank you Sandra-Lee Davie for giving your time and sharing your family history... I have personally learnt so much about your family on these tours and you must be so proud of your ancestors.

What a fine looking couple they were. Eric also told some wonderful stories about our very own Ada Crossley, who after growing up on a farm in Tarraville, went on to become a world renowned opera singer performing for royalty in London. We had lovely weather to! After all the rain for the past few weeks the sun shone through and turned on a very pleasant day.

02.01.2022 A wonderful tour today with the Port Albert Yacht Club. The sky was blue, the sun was shining...but the wind was a tad to strong for the yacht race today! Eric and I certainly enjoyed meeting you all and sharing some history and introducing you to some of our special residents.

Another one of our guests, Jenny, has very kindly allowed me to borrow some of her own research materials to read over. We have established a link between our families! ... Thank you to Eric Greenaway for his presentation on his Great Grandparents and sharing the story of our very own songstress, the delightful and beautiful Ada Crossley. Thanks to Chris Smith for his presentation on E.T Newton...it really made Gordon’s day! And last but not and never least, thanks to Collin Kirkpatrick for being our ‘Doug’ today. You never know when you might need a man with a shovel!
