24.01.2022 Dear parents and carers, As I write this, term three is almost at an end. There have been weeks when it has felt like the longest term ever and then at other times, the days have moved so quickly. As parents/carers, you have all worked so hard this term. It has been tough but we know that you have done the best that you can for the children.... Our staff have also worked really hard to continue to provide meaningful learning experiences that can be supported at home. Hopefully parents/carers will enjoy a break from the home learning routine over the school holidays and teachers will enjoy some down time too. The first week of term four, 5th 9th October will be remote learning for all students. Teachers will also be planning for the rest of the term during this week. Each team (P/1; 1/2; 3/4; 5/6) will have a different planning day, just like if we were at school. Your child’s teacher/s will let them know when this will happen as there will not be WebEx meetings on that day. Our Prep to Year 2 students return on site from the 12th October. We will let you know about staggered starts and end of the day when we have more information from the Department. Please keep an eye on School Stream, social media, our website and your emails. Parents of students in years 3 to 6 who require on site supervision after the 12th October will be able to apply for this on a weekly basis. The Department of Education and Training, following the advice of the Chief Health Officer, have firm guidelines about this and these are clearly explained on the form attached. Term four will be a very different term for all of us we will need to get used to being back at school. Some of our senior students and teachers have not been on site for 17 weeks! We are currently waiting to see what restrictions will be in place for events such as Prep transition, grade 6 orientation day and graduation. The student free day that was planned for 19th October will be postponed. Students will be either on site (P-2) or remote learning (3-6) on that day. We will let you know the new date for our curriculum day as soon as possible. Teachers also have a Professional Practice Day each term which can usually be taken on a day of choice. To minimise disruption to families and our learning program, there will be a student free day on Monday 2nd November and all teachers will be writing reports on this day. I would sincerely like to thank all parents, carers and staff for the work that they have put into term three. I know that it has not been easy. I wish you all a safe and happy holiday. Yours sincerely, Jean Bentley PRINCIPAL

22.01.2022 School is back for everyone at Albion North PS from week two of term four - Monday 12th October 2020. We hope that you are as happy as we are to have the children back on site and some normality return to our lives. I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome our new students and their families. It is challenging enough to start at a new school at any time but these children went straight into remote learning and onto WebEx meetings with students and teachers they didn’t kno...Continue reading

22.01.2022 Letter from the Victorian Chief Health Officer I am writing to Victorian parents, carers and students today to seek every family’s support in slowing the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Victoria.... As the school holidays approach, we can’t ease up on looking after ourselves and our families. The only thing between us and a second wave is what we do next. Wherever you go, please be mindful of the risks. Be aware others may be carrying the virus and practice physical distancing. We are currently experiencing the highest case numbers we’ve seen in more than two months. Current evidence suggests that the rise in case numbers in Victoria is being driven by families having get-togethers and not following advice around physical distancing and hygiene. Unfortunately, we are still in a pandemic and people’s lives are still at risk. As we’ve seen across the world, this virus has the ability to turn a small number of cases into hundreds in a matter of days. This is not where we want to be and we must all act now while we can. This is why we’ve had to implement a number of revised restrictions. The number of visitors you can have at your home is now reduced to five. Outside the home, families and friends can meet in groups up to ten. This is how each and every member of the community can help: Stay safe while out in the community. Stay safe at home. And that means only seeing those you need to. Don’t have big family gatherings and remember to keep your distance and maintain good hygiene. Don’t share food or drinks. If you, or anyone in your family is feeling unwell stay at home. Don’t visit friends and family. Don’t go on holiday if you are unwell and don’t go to work. Don’t send your kids to school, childcare or kindergarten if they are unwell stay home. And if you have symptoms, get tested. The vast majority of Victorians are doing the right thing, but this is a wake-up call and we cannot be complacent. It’s up to all of us to keep our friends and families safe. For current information and updates on coronavirus (COVID-19) visit the Victorian Government’s coronavirus website. If anyone in your family has any of the symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19), however mild, they should stay at home, seek advice and get tested. These symptoms include fever, chills or sweats, a cough, a sore throat, shortness of breath or runny nose, or loss of sense of smell or taste. For more information about where to get tested visit the getting tested for coronavirus web page. If you’re concerned yourself or a family member has contracted the virus and need more information, please call the 24-hour coronavirus hotline on 1800 675 398. 18.01.2022 Dear Parents and Carers, Thank you! A huge thank you to the parents and carers of our students in years Prep to 2 who have made the transition back to school for these children so easy. Thank you for getting the children to and from school at the right times and for respecting the physical distancing measures that are in place.... Our 3-6 students return next week and this means that there will be an extra 140 students coming through our gates. To maintain physical distancing during our staggered start, it is very important that you keep to your allocated arrival and collection times. These are on the next page. Please try not to arrive too early at the end of the day as this may mean larger numbers in the school grounds than expected. We all need to work together to make sure that everyone is safe at this time. If there are a large number of adults in the school ground at the end of the day then we will need to ask you to collect children from a designated spot in one of our local streets. Jean Bentley PRINCIPAL There is no access to the school grounds before 8:50 a.m. Children are rostered to arrive from 8:50 a.m. alphabetically by surname. They can arrive through any gate but will go straight to the classroom. 8:50 to 9:00 = surnames A to D 9:00 to 9:10 = surnames E to L 9:10 to 9:20 = surnames M to R 9:20 to 9:30 = surnames S to Z Parents are not permitted on site and must leave children at the gate. Staff will be at gates and in the playground to support students. At the end of the day, students will leave in the same order 2:35 to 2:45 = surnames A to D 2:45 to 2:55 = surnames E to L 2:55 to 3:05 = surnames M to R 3:05 to 3:15 = surnames S to Z Parents are only permitted on site to collect children and must not arrive earlier than the specified collection time. Social distancing rules will apply and parents/carers must wait on the running track or basketball court for children. Families must then leave the school grounds immediately. SENIOR STUDENTS WHO TRAVEL TO SCHOOL UNSUPERVISED: Students who ride bikes or walk to school without parent supervision are expected to be at school at 9 a.m. and will leave at 3:15 p.m. regardless of surname. SENIOR STUDENTS WHO WALK HOME WITH YOUNGER SIBLINGS: If your child has permission to walk home with their younger siblings without an adult, these children will be at school from 9 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. regardless of surname.

09.01.2022 Hello Families, We're currently experiencing issues with our school phone. If you need to contact a teacher please send them a message on Google Classroom. We apologise for any inconvenience.

02.01.2022 Term two is almost over and I’m sure that you will agree, it has been the most unusual term that any of us have ever seen. Well done parents and carers! You managed to support your children learning from home to the best of your ability. Many of you did this while balancing work from home, toddlers and other commitments and everyone should be congratulated for their efforts. Our students also must be congratulated for the work that they have put in over the past term. Remote ...learning seemed to be a positive experience for most of them but they all seemed happy to return to school. A huge thank you to our staff who managed the transitions to and from remote learning exceptionally well. They also managed to support your children’s learning at home and have made the return to school as smooth as possible. Thank you to those families who have supported us by following the rules that have been set for us by the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Health and Human Services. These have included staggered starts and finishes to our school day, social distancing and keeping children who are unwell at home. Friday finishing times: To support our staggered times at the end of the day, the following will apply for Friday 26th June: Children with surnames from A K: to be collected between 1:15 and 1:20 Children with surnames from L R: 1:20 and 1:25 Children with surnames from S Z: 1:25 and 1:30 All other children will leave at 1:30 or will go to Kelly Club.

02.01.2022 Hello Families, School holidays have been extended by a week for students. We thank-you for your ongoing support.
