18.01.2022 Hi all, not long until the start of the season proper. A great turn out Saturday to unfortunately watch our guys go down to the NDCC Butchers. A big thank you to Bumsy and Fergo for putting it together and Wazza for a great wicket. Wazza has put a lot of time and effort into the square the last few months and it is looking amazing. While the lads went down, there were some good signs with new recruit Grovesy racing to 44 with some great stroke play and Riley with a dominating... 38. Fielding was pretty good, only a half chance going down combined with some tight bowling at times in some blustery conditions. Zane and Kobe taking two wickets each, with one to Logan. The canteen did very well, thank you to those who sampled a coffee from our new machine or had a meat pie or sausage roll. These funds will be used for the up keep of the Grey. We should be able to fill four sides this season, but we really need you all to register to make it official. 1s will start at home against Oak Flats on the 10th, with a bye on the 17th and no game on the 24th due to the rep round. 2s, 3s and 4s will start the 17th, however 2s also have a bye that week. All junior age groups and the blasters will also commence the 17th. I have been told by Sommers that our online clothing store should be up this week, however we do have some junior playing shirts in stock. Come down to the Grey this Wednesday afternoon from 4.30 if you wish to purchase one. Grade and under 17’s training will move to Tuesday and Friday (Friday optional for the 17s) at 4:30 pm from October 6, please write your name down when you arrive for the ‘Rona rules’. 16.01.2022 Hi all, Another great turn out Saturday at training, if you are free please come along either Wednesday from 4.30 or Saturday from 10. This Saturday 1s will be having a trial match against Northern Districts starting at 12.30, it is a 40 over match in whites and it will be great to see as many Eagle supporters there checking it out. The canteen will be open too. Unfortunately, the planned T20 comp commencing on the long weekend has been canned so the 10th is when it begins f...or 1st grade and the 17th for the remaining grades and juniors. 15.01.2022 Hello and welcome to the last match report for the year, and what a year! Only our 15s played in juniors on Saturday, with Jack Couley taking 3 for none in the loss against Kiama, coming 5 runs short of victory. In grade, 3s and 4s had a T20 each, 3s smashing The Rail with Rob making a very entertaining and quick 82, young Sizzle took 2 for 32. 4s went down to Lake, with the elder Moule making 42 and Picko making 24. 1s are back with 2s on the 9th, 1s against the Rail at the ...Grey for a 2 dayer and 2s have their T20 against Oak at Geoff Shaw, the winner to play Kiama later that day. 1s have their two T20’s on the 10th, so please let us know if you are out early so arrangements can be made. To all young and old Eagles, have a great Christmas, enjoy the tests, big bash and of course back yard matches (one hand, one bounce rule applies) and see you all in 2021. 08.01.2022 On Wednesday night we had our monthly meeting and thought it important to share some of the things we are looking to do. We are very fortunate to have Warilla Medical Imaging come on board as a silver sponsor, thankyou very much for your support of our club! With this support we can purchase a new mower for the wicket and for Wazza. First grade will be a part of the T20 competition that includes the Illawarra clubs, we will be pooled with three other sides with matches played... on the October long weekend, draws and game locations are yet to be announced. First grade are having a trial 40 over match at the Grey on the 26th against Northern Districts, the canteen will be open and all will need to observe the ‘Corona rules’ Saturday training has had impressive numbers, 20 last week is great and I personally would like to build on this, as such for those that cannot make Saturday’s, we will be training Wednesday afternoons from 4 until dark, so please come on down if you can. These sessions assist us in building the squads for the four sides in preparation for the season ahead. Numbers in our juniors are strong again, with the season to start October 17. Please remember that each junior registering will receive a new training shirt and shorts. We will have a few trying out for the South Coast rep side too, so good luck and enjoy the sessions! 05.01.2022 Happy New Year all and welcome to the second half of our season! Sun is out, cricket is on the tele and we are back. Last weekend 1s and 2s kicked off 2021 with mixed success. 1s went to Scout Willoughby on a very suspect deck and did what I thought was a great job of getting to 106 on day one of their two-day match. Kobe’s and Coops made 19 and Nick Lambert a solid 15 not out. Bumsy took the prized scalp of Mitch Watterson for a duck in the first over but catches do win matc...hes and unfortunately a few went down. which resulted in Shellharbour going into day 2 in a strong position at 2 for 71. 2s commenced their T20 competition and played Oak, coming away with a solid victory. Runs were spread nicely across the group with Raggy excelling with a great 47. But is was the Eagles in the field that won the match, there was some great bowling but it looks like we have found us a leggie in young Dalb’s who impressed in his spell. Army man Josh Hobbs took three for 23 from his four as well. Unfortunately, 2s went down to Kiama in the afternoon coming up 28 runs short in the chase with Kegs making 28, Raggy 26 and Jacky D 24. 1s had a mixed Sunday in their T20’s, going down to Kiama in the morning. Fielding first Kiama made 133 with Zane taking 2 wickets for 18 off 4. The Park made 85 in reply off their 20 with Kobes and Nudge making 13 each. The boys had a strong win in the afternoon over The Rail. Batting first an unbeaten 41 for Kobes, 36 from Shaggy and 18 from Zane resulted in a defendable 130. The Rail managed 119 with each of our 6 bowlers used snaring a wicket. The next T20s are the 31st. Good luck this weekend and may the runs be with you! 03.01.2022 Hi Eagles and welcome to Wednesday! We all got to enjoy a great day of cricket last Saturday and some awesome team results and individual performances all round. 1s went down to Kiama, chasing 243 the Eagles were all out for 129. Unfortunately no player stats in mycricket. 2s were narrowly defeated by Shellharbour falling short by 16 in the run chase, young Zac took 3fa 40 in his comeback from injury but it was Raggy who was a star, 1 for 13 off 9 to start day and followed th...is up with a quick fire 53 to get us back in the match and swamping one which was great to see, solid as a rock of late Keego held the innings together again with a steady 32. 3s smashed Gerringong, setting 284 as a target, Park rolled the Jets for 148. The Barton’s, young and old had a day out, dad with 89 and son 6 for 30. From the scorecard all contributed very nicely with the willow. 4s ground out a solid win against Gerringong, setting 108 before being dismissed, Park bowled out Gerringong for 71. Joel smashing 45 with the bat (and one of the biggest 6’s ever seen) then taking 2 wickets, Monter’s took 2 and Adam Clay took 4 for 9! In juniors, our 11s were defeated by The Rail, falling short by 65, young Mr Elliot with 25 not out and Lucas taking 2 for 10. 13s just got up against Lake, Josh with 27 not out and Logan 3 for 16 in a nail biter, the margin only 5. 15s had a win against Helensburgh at Con O’Keefe, Will scoring 26 not out, I was told Harrison was unplayable, figures of 1 for 3 off 3 support that!!!!! 17s got to field Saturday morning against the City Rats (combined Shellharbour and Oak Flats), sending the visitors in finishing all out for 192 just shy of their 50 overs. Whales and Kobes took 3 each, Kobes also taking 3 catches and the Sheriff taking 2. The lads get the chance to chase this down Saturday morning, so fingers crossed the grass is short and dry at Des King. Our junior President’s Player of the week goes to Logan Goodway, consistent performances to start the season taking 6 wickets in the last two matches and an early season bowling average of 4.7!!!!!! Senior POW are the Barton pair, very rare to have a father & son perform in the same match, speaking from experience Please put in your diaries the afternoon from 5.30 Saturday the 12th of December for a BBQ down at the Grey, get there when you can for a club get together before Christmas, the canteen will be open for soft drinks and coffee, pies and sausage rolls (if 2s don’t eat them all) Can we please have an indication of numbers so we can organise catering.
