From Friday 4 September 2020, what is ...called the ‘border region will change to include anywhere 50 kms either side of the New South Wales/ Victorian border. There will also be a new permit called the ‘border resident permit’ that you can get if you live in the border region. The new permit will allow a person to cross either side of the Border for these reasons: to buy or necessary goods or services This includes going to Centrelink. This includes essential shopping, such as food or household items. Caring or looking after people who are sick or other compassionate grounds; To attend work; To go school, TAFE or University. If you get a permit, you must only cross for this reason. A person must follow all the rules of the State they are in such as wearing face masks in Victoria and restrictions of gathering sizes. A person must not leave the border region. They must not go outside 50km from the Border. You cannot go to Melbourne from Victoria or New South Wales. People must book an appointment by calling or texting Diana before coming to the centre as there are limited people able to be in the centre at a time. 11.01.2022 This information is about being tested for Covid 19 in Albury or Wodonga. If you have any like symptoms that are like the flu or a cold- you must get tested fo...r Covid 19. You might only have mild flu symptoms, but you still need to be tested. These symptoms are: Fever, chills or sweats, Coughing, A sore throat, Shortness of breath, A runny nose, The loss of smell or taste. The Covid 19 test is free for everyone, it will not cost you anything to be tested. To get tested in Albury or Wodonga call Albury Wodonga Health on (02) 6058 4444. They will provide a phone interpreter for you and organise an appointment time for the test. This is what happens when you call this phone number to get a COVID19 test: First you will hear an automated message in English, Press 1 on your phone to be put through to a staff member. You may have to wait until someone can talk to you. When you speak to a staff member say you need an interpreter. They will ask you for your name, phone number and your language. They will call you back on your number with a phone interpreter to talk with you and arrange for you to be tested. This is what happens when you go to get a test: Testing is happening in different locations. The person on the phone will find the closest testing place for you. If you don’t have a car or licence they will organise another way for you to be tested. You should say that you don’t have a car. If you need to cross the border to be tested, they will arrange a permit for you over the phone. The test takes around a minute. A nurse does a swab from the back of your throat and nose. They will also take your temperature and ask you some other questions. The test is free for everyone. When you go for your test you should bring identification for example, your Medicare card, driver’s licence or student ID. They will tell you how long it will take for you to receive the test results. After the test you must return home. You must isolate yourself from all other people until you receive your test result. If you cannot isolate from the other people in your house, anyone that lives with you will need to self isolate also until you find out your test results. If you or anyone you live with cannot go to work or study because you must isolate, you can ask for a medical certificate. If you need to you can show this to your boss or school. You need to ask for this when you get tested and they will organise these certificates for you or anyone you live with. If your results are negative, that means you do not have Covid 19 . You will receive a text message on your phone, this text message will be in English. Once you have received this text message you and anyone you live with no longer need to self isolate. If your result is positive, that means you have Covid 19, they will call you on your phone. You can ask for an interpreter if they call you and they will arrange one for you over the phone. They will explain with an interpreter what you will need to do. The most important thing is that anyone who has symptoms like having the flu, must get tested for Covid 19, this is important to help to stop the spread of this virus.

Face masks were quick...ly and beautifully manufactured by one of our clever Congolese women Blandine when the Victorian government announced mandatory face masks in public spaces. 100 beautiful masks were made and sold to the lucky Wodonga Tafe students.
