25.01.2022 Been a little slack on updating recently. It’s been very hectic recently as we have had a full time casting work to do as well as our online sales and the work from the incoming containers. On the positive side Albury Casting has doubled it’s workforce and have taken on some help to distribute the work which has helped out greatly and I have 3 new products, which I have written about in the past, that have finally landed. 4 Hole Post Shroud... A part idea that came from another customer, this will slip over the top of our 4 Hole Post Bases and will looks sleek and without any bolt holes giving the post section a much higher visual quality. It’s also hand for 2 other reasons in that you won’t catch your feet on any bolts sticking out. You can also buy normal unpainted post bases and if you happen to park them while installing it wont matter as soon as the shroud goes over the top. Single Point Post Base This is a small part and is designed for having a post that the builder wants to have either directly on 2 corners or simply wants to have a very streamlines view where it looks like the post goes straight into the ground. This part can also handle posts with a nominal wall thickness of 1.8mm. Mill Tek Screws These are the same high quality tek screws I have been selling in black but simply uncoated (mill) so you can then coat any colour over the top when you send your panels and brackets off to the painter.

25.01.2022 I have been asked a few times about having other colours such as primrose and hawthorn green on our brackets. This was something that we used to do many years ago so I thought I would write down what's changed over the last 10 years or so. In the past most fence panels were made within Australia and the main colours were black, primrose, pearl white and either hawthorn or heritage green. There were a few others but these were the main ones. In most cases because the panel...s were made within Australia they also required powder coating locally too. Most panel lots were painted to order so 1 house worth of panels here and there with the main colours being held in stock, this allowed alot of flexibility with colour choice and you found the market allowed for more and getting the brackets painted at these same places also allowed us to keep stock of a certain colour. Anything more exotic we would just supply mill to the powder coater and they would do the brackets and panels together. Of all the colours even then black was the main one so when importing panels become the "norm" the importers took advantage of the difference in powder coating prices and brought in the main colour only. I need to stress the difference in powder coating costs between Asia and Australia are massive, it's not 2030% cheaper but x3x4 times cheaper which makes a very big difference to the importer/seller as well as to the customer. Over time because of this the market share of black, which was 4050% to begin with became 95% of the market. This is why we, also as an importer (from our own foundry in Malaysia), do not get any benefit of holding anything other than black with mill as well for any of the other colours painted locally. I have a big customer in QLD that's held onto the same white brackets for years.

23.01.2022 Altered Ø550 pot trolley pattern now completed. We just added some of the nicer rads, logo and so on for the proper casting to be made for supply.

19.01.2022 Had an enquiry recently for a large Ø550 pot trolley. I have been playing with this idea previously as I have a VegePod and wanted something for their Vegebags which are Ø600. I have a good area to grow tomatoes and stuff in but I just cannot stop the bugs from destroying them. So anyhoo I got the enquiry and order, so I am making 5 of them (1 for the order and the balance for stock) If anyone is interested please let me know. Will be avaiable ~October

18.01.2022 One of the big reasons places like IKEA and Bunnings do so well is apart from being convenient is that they practice loss leader selling. This is where they have the "main" part at a minimal margin which gets people in but then add 200 to 300% on the accessories. In the case of fencing the panel itself is a pretty good price. I too could import them but the pricing I get would not be a lot better than what Bunnings sells for. However if what you want after are the brackets, post casps, latches and other hardware to install the fence these are being charged out at extremely high prices. As an example the 4 pack of 38H brackets and screws will cost you more than our pricing including delivery! Now if you are doing for more than 1 panel this adds up to a great saving you can then spend on lunch :)

18.01.2022 Been quiet recently, business as usual but with dodgy weather. Recently finished a small sub contract mould so I am now looking at what part to make next. I am thinking about an aluminium endcap for sleeper retaining walls but not sure what the "standard" size is for them.

18.01.2022 A good time to buy online now to stay away from everyone else. It's also a good time to get work done outside putting up a fence or 2 if you find yourself with some time off. To help everyone along please use the coupon code "stayhome" for 10% off your purchases at checkout on the www.fencebrackets.com.au store.

18.01.2022 I am looking to hire somone as a production assistant. Activites include die casting, processing, other moulding functions as well as the usual daily excitement. If there is anyone interested (full time 8am4pm) please call me, Keith, on 0428 915 330 or drop by during the week at Albury Casting, 14 Stockwell Road.

16.01.2022 Finally got both the new postbase cover and single point post base moulds away to the foundry so I should in the next update be able to show some samples of these parts. For the future I am working on another simple part which I have had a couple of people ask about. This is a 4 hole post base too but unlike our usual version this will hold the outside of the post in place. I have also made it alot lighter and lower profile so it’s better value & fits the shroud over the top too if you want it that way. The inside dimensions will be 51x51mm to suit a 50mm post and it will have a side tang which allows for a locking Tek screw to secure the post in position after fitting. I’ll probably start this mould in April and pricing would soon follow after.

16.01.2022 Not something most people would be interested in but we are now offering our aluminium 8" strainer with Ø50 holes which has been a customer demand for some time. Please contact me if you have any questions, cheers

14.01.2022 Sorry to say but we're out of stock on the pot trolleys. The Easter break had a fantastic rush on them but I need to get some more wheels before selling them again, should be in July.

13.01.2022 After getting caught out with the wheel stock I should have the pot trolleys back next week fingers crossed.

12.01.2022 With Spring upon us I think it's a good time to promote our fantastic 34cm pot trolley. Our trolley can hold up to 400kgs. Use either inside or outdoors as it has highly reliable polyurethane "blade" wheels. These wheels also last lifetimes longer than the cheap plastic caster wheels you find on other versions.

09.01.2022 Another trial for a new product. This one no one really asked for but I can see a small use for it. It is a single point post base suited to a 50mm post. I thought in areas where people are either looking for a very slim line of placing posts on corners where you want to get right to the edge. I have some of these coming in June.

08.01.2022 There has been a longer than desired break because of the virus but things are slowly getting back to normal. During the downtime the 2 new moulds were sent to Malaysia for testing and the shroud has had it’s first trial. Whether it be big or small it’s always great to get a mould correct first time and we were able to get a good run straight away. I will be able to get both mill and black shrouds in the coming container so I will be able to start selling from late June ’20. For those wondering there is a big enough gap so that post itself fits inside the shroud and bottoms onto the post base like usual. The shroud can handle a normal dynabolt with up to 6mm protrusion or you can use our better flush head versions that have no protrusion.

04.01.2022 Finally the real workhorse has arrived. This is our 5 Axis DMU50 from Malaysia and we'll finally be able to start mining equipment fabrication in Jindera. Still not 100% installed and we're having some levelling problems but it fired up straight away which was the main concern.

03.01.2022 New machine day. It's not the most exciting of machines (universal mill) but I have found that being rural you need to have backup reliable machines for when the CNC's go down. The HAAS has broken and the service company are not able to get the approval to get from Melbourne up here to fix it so I play the waiting game..
