I use technology in one form or another, eve...n the most basic technology of a phone call, to be able to support me in terms of how I chose to live my life, Sarah said. I’ve got a home technology set-up within the house that’s linked between my computer and my phone. I have my pharmacy list there and when I’m running out of medications I just go to the pharmacy list and I highlight that particular drug so it’s very quick and easy for me to identify the medications that I’ve got to pick up or the medications I need scripts for. I have people who come to work at my house for me like a gardener and I list down all the things I need him to do and then, through the home assistive technology, I can call that information up without me having to remember it. That is a big thing for me because my short-term memory is profoundly affected now and this is a way I have taught myself to be able to do these tasks. This week is Dementia Action Week, a week to understand the discrimination that people living with dementia face and the small changes and support that can make a lot of difference.
