18.01.2022 Last month, I completed the 2021 Push Up Challenge, which is aimed at raising funds and awareness for mental health and suicide prevention, with specific support for Lifeline and Headspace. Throughout the 4 week challenge (which involved doing 3,318 push-ups) we were provided with facts about mental health. Some of the information was confronting, relating to mental health issues, affecting groups within our society, such as men, First Nations people, new mothers, the LGBTIA+... community, and War Veterans. I reflect a little on what this month has taught me in my latest blog. https://alchemyptyltd.com/reflections-on-mental-health/

17.01.2022 Fine detailing in brickwork on the Villa Maria building in Fortitude Valley. Commencing in 1927 and now part of Catholic Healthcares residential care, the building demonstrates the craftsmanship of Architect and builder

15.01.2022 The Bris Powerhouse was constructed in 1927 and repurposed in 2000 as an arts centre. Great building and activity on the River at New Farm #architecturedesign #accessibility

15.01.2022 Today is World Blood Donor Day, and in light of this day, I donated blood. Better late than never! My dad used to donate blood, and I have good friends who do likewise. So I thought I should contribute also, and did so through the Australian Red Cross. Quite simply, blood saves lives. One-third of all donations go to cancer treatment. One donation can save up to three lives and can be used for different 22 treatments. My life is now touched with close friends undergoing canc...er treatment, so I’m proud to help someone in some small way. #worldblooddonorday #giveblood #australianredcross

14.01.2022 Accessibility is such an important component of our life (or should be). The Disability Discrimination Act requires everyone to have fair and equitable access in our society, without discrimination. So how does training in accessibility help architectural design? I give my insights into how having both Architecture and Access qualifications enables me to have a deeper understanding of what my clients need and how best to provide accessible solutions in my latest blog:... https://alchemyptyltd.com/designing-architecture-as-an-acc/ See more

14.01.2022 Picture postcard day today with the Storey Bridge a highlight. The mix of natural and man made fenestration was beautiful #brisbane #alchemy #storeybridge #sunshine

11.01.2022 The theme of this years' NAIDOC Week was ‘Heal Country’. I take time out to reflect on what this means, following a trip to the Northern Territory. https://alchemyptyltd.com/spirit-of-place/

11.01.2022 I have recently passed an exam to become an Accredited Assessor of SDA for NDIS housing. See this Insight for more info.

10.01.2022 Great article and idea for Canberra, but Universal Design and equitable access for all must be part of our Development DNA. https://www.canberratimes.com.au//we-can-all-benefit-advo/

10.01.2022 A clever re-purposing of (what I assume) was an old Pizza Hut building. Extension to the left. All screened to reduce heat gain #naturalscreens #steelscreens #building repurpose
