19.01.2022 2020 has been such a challenging year for so many people. It’s an honour to be recognised for our efforts to support our community at this time. Local Governmen...t Professionals Australia National Federation Awards NATIONAL WINNER Innovation Management Initiative Award for the ‘Stronger Together’ campaign The Stronger Together Campaign encapsulates all City of Darwin initiatives developed to support and unite our community in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The campaign included a wide range of economic stimulus initiatives, at a time the local economy was reeling from border closures, business shutdowns and social distancing. Meeting the needs of the Darwin community, its residents and businesses, were at the heart of the campaign. Smart Cities Week ANZ 2020 Awards CATEGORY WINNER - Privacy Framework Award for ‘Switching on Darwin’ #SwitchingOnDarwin enables better decision making by using technology and data to support decisions, providing the community with a safer city and reduced antisocial behaviour, using technology to help save energy, providing more convenient services to the community, and finding efficiencies in how Council operates to minimise costs. Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) NT Recognition Awards NT WINNER (URBAN) Darwin Library Online Programs for Children and Youth During COVID-19 City of Darwin Libraries responded to COVID-19 by transitioning many of its programs online. During this time, we livestreamed and published recordings of online story time sessions for families at home. We also organised online author talks, workshops, STEAM sessions and other online programs to help people stay engaged and develop their knowledge and interests. Going virtual during this time of physical distancing brought on by the pandemic offered opportunities to connect with young children and their families in a different way.
