25.01.2022 ABC Education has a long history of content that can support literacy, literature and language learning. Like all resources choose what fits with your pedagogical philosophy and school approach and allows your students to see themselves in the narratives.

25.01.2022 Just wondering what treasured books from their childhood other ALEA members might have. Mine is a first edition (1961) ‘The Nursery Peter Pan’ illustrated by Mabel Lucy Attwell and J.S Goodall, published by Brockhampton Press. The illustrations are beautiful. I can’t wait until our grandchildren are old enough to share it with.

24.01.2022 So pleased to be part of the My Place Competition with Australian Children’s Television this year. Looking forward to great ideas from you and your students.

10.01.2022 A group of ALEA and Children’s Television Foundation staff are currently reading through over 3,500 entries to the ‘My Place’ writing competition. The shortlisted entries will be read by Nadia Wheatley and the final winners chosen. Reading through some 300 entries has exposed me to how current times have affected our students. They have wowed me, brought me to tears and made me laugh but most of all, they have shown how resilient they are. Thank you for the privilege of reading such a diverse range of texts from children all over Australia. Choosing the winners is going to be a challenging task.

09.01.2022 Judging is now underway for the 2020 #MyPlace Competition! Team ACTF and ALEA - Australian Literacy Educators' Association are working their way through the record number of entries received. Stay tuned, winners will be announced this term. actf.tv/my-place-comp
