Its hard enough to survive in this industry at the best of times, at the moment with COVID-19 its so very much harder which is visibly evident by all the new retail vacancies up and down Darling St. This kind of behaviour has happened to us multiple times, including December last year where a couple felt that paying for all their food and alcohol (which they ate it all and drank it all) was optional and subsequently verbally and physically assa...ulted one of our managers when he rightly asked that they pay their bill as they decided to leave without paying. Or a table of 10 3 years ago who overstayed their seating time, were abusive about 2 dishes which they claimed were not cooked right (which they were but we replaced them immediately without question), the afterwards demanded a discount which we reluctantly gave (they pretty much only paid for their drinks) and then decided to still write multiple reviews attacking us because we didnt discount the whole $700 bill. 09.01.2022 The video we had made by our friends in Beirut for our fundraiser last month which gives an insight as to how horrific the explosion in August was. The humanitarian crisis there is ongoing, and if you are able to donate to help, every dollar counts as the port and 85% of the countries grain stores were destroyed in the blast. This means people are going hungry and after the blast covid cases dramatically spiked, as a result of the 250 000 people who were displaced from this ...blast and had to crowd into their extended families residences because they had nowhere to go. We raised just over $4000 on the night which we donated to Huss Faraj’s amazing food relief efforts, as well as to a fundraiser trying to take care of a group of poor families who were hurt or had their residences were seriously damaged by the blast. So after over a year of trying (and about 50 emails and calls) now if you type Alegrias into the Uber app it will go to our current location in Rozelle and not to our old one in Balmain. We apologise for the issues it’s caused.... but I assure you it has been an incredibly long and painful process to achieve such a simple thing. They never show these struggles of achieving such mundane and seemingly simple but important things on TV restaurant shows. I guess it’s more e...ntertaining to watch the likes of Gordon Ramsey verbally and emotionally abuse staff and small restaurant owners than spending hours watching a restaurant owner being put on hold to service providers or resending emails dozens of times to big companies who have terrible customer service to get things right. It personally took me over 20 visits to the telstra shop and 30 hours on the phone to just get the phone and internet working at our restaurant over a 3 month period when we first opened which cost us massive amounts in lost business. Doesn’t make for exciting TV, but these details matter and I can assure you they don’t teach a course on this in commerce degrees at university. See more

05.01.2022 Hey everyone. Some of you might have seen the massive explosion in Beirut early this morning. There is a gofundme being run by Hussein Faraj who is the chicken shop owner in Rockdale who was on A Current Affair and in international news earlier this year for providing up to 2000 free meals a day to his community at the start of covid to help struggling families. He has done some amazing charitable works in his local community and abroad over the years and is looking for donat...ions of any size to help those affected by this horrendous explosion in the middle of the city. Its not just the damage from the explosion thats the issue, but the destruction of the grain stores and the port which were a key source of welfare and nutrition during the covid pandemic which has hit Lebanon harder than most countries. So this is extremely devastating to the Lebanese people at the worst possible time. I know times are tough for us all but if you can spare even a dollar towards this cause and share the link it will make a huge difference as this couldnt have come at a worse time for them. 04.01.2022 Hey everyone! So with the current restrictions we are fully booked tonight over both 2 hour seatings! Its half of what we used to do but we are super excited to be busy again. We are still finding our feet again after the lockdown, so please be patient with us as its been a hard few months and we are still getting used to actually serving a semi full restaurant again . Our friends Il Grappolo across the road still have a couple of tables available early in the night and a...fter 830 available, but unfortunately we cant fit any more guests in because we have run low on a few dishes (after having a much busier than expected past few days) and to make more can take up to 2 days of preparation and cooking to restock. On Monday, 31st of August, from 6pm those that join us will have the opportunity to indulge in an authentic Lebanese feast. All funds raised on the night will be donated to Hussein Farajs GoFundMe campaign to help purchase desperately needed medical supplies, food and shelter for those affected by the explosion in Beirut. The explosion on the 4th of August has left an estimated 300,000 people homeless and destroyed 85% of the countrys grain supply.
