05.01.2022 Some handy tips from our friends at Nutrition Solutions Victoria We realise that some of you may be finding it harder to navigate changes to your financial wellbeing, and this can make creating nutritious and tasty meals difficult. There are a few ways to cut down the grocery bill, and we want to help you to feel a little less worry when it comes to shopping, cooking and prepping food on a budget. 1 Plan your shop: check out what's on sale this week, take inventory of wh...at you already have and plan ahead with a few meal ideas! Bonus tip: order your groceries online and request the pickup option. This stops you from making too many unplanned purchases but saves you money on delivery fees 2 Use staples: Don't just think about what goes in the pantry - think about what you can store in the fridge and freezer that can go in a variety of meals like frozen mixed veg or shredded roast chicken 3 Seek out Inspiration: explore the internet, dig up those recipe books and get inspired. Use simple meal structures to help create a balanced meal (around 1/2 plate veg, 1/4 plate protein, 1/4 plate carbs, healthy fats herbs and spices to shake things up) 4 Buy smart & plan for the unplanned: Buy in bulk (if there's a good chance you'll use it!), Compare products per 100g so you're not just paying for fancy packaging, buy in season, choose generic brands But remember to also leave some of your budget aside for unplanned shops during the week!
