19.01.2022 Welcome! I will be running for Councillor in March 2020 for the beautiful Mary Valley known as division 8. I love our area and I believe it is bursting with opportunity and this is something I want to highlight. We are on the edge of one of the fastest growing regional areas in Australia in the Sunshine Coast. We have beautiful towns with existing infrastructure such as great schools, parks and amazing cultural events. We are the natural choice for families looking to reloca...te out of our over crowded cities. I am one of those, having moved from Sydney 4 years ago with my two little children and wife. We found this place by chance and proximity to work in the Sunshine Coast. We could not have been more lucky. I believe a different discourse can be found, one of opportunity, growth and improved livability rather than the pessimistic views that abound. Some of the areas I am passionate about include: - improving public transport and support for elderly to encourage people to move out of our congested towns without loosing mobility. - opening up areas around townships for sustainable development to tap into the Sunshine Coast's growth and to attract young families to the area to sustain and grow our towns and schools. - Encourage beautification of our towns through streetscape beautification, tree planting, road verge food gardens and pedestrian infrastructure. - Transparency in Council decisions and consultation on major budget decisions. Including live streaming of Council meetings. - Ensure public assets remain public - oppose the privatisation of Council water assets. - Encourage entrepreneurship and growth in agriculture, tourism and manufacturing that underpin our local economy. - Investigate alternate revenue streams for Council to ease the burden on rate payers including solar micro-grids for our townships, vehicle charging stations along the A1 and Council owned up-cycling and recycling plants. Councils represent the will of the people and if the people want a positive, transparent and vibrant Council looking towards the future then that is the choice I want to give the people of Division 8 and Gympie region.
