22.01.2022 MAJOR BEACH CAR PARKS CLOSED Car parks at a number of Sunshine Coast beaches will be closed from midnight tonight ahead of the Easter long weekend. Coolu...m main car park at skate bowl and Coolum Surf Club Mudjimba Esplanade car park Maroochydore near beach access 141 car park north of Maroochy Surf Club Maroochy Surf Club car park and beach access 150 car park Alex Surf Club north and south of surf club Mooloolaba northern car park, Beach Terrace car park, Mooloolaba Surf Club and Mooloolaba spit off street car parks Buddina at Kawana Surf Club Dicky Beach car park Moffat Beach car park and Lower Neill Street Kings Beach the Esplanade car park Happy Valley the Esplanade car park Bulcock Beach car park This is aimed to stop visitors from outside our region and to help protect our community. #Stayhome FOR RESIDENTS: If you do need to go out to exercise, stay in your suburb to avoid crowding. Queensland Police Service has warned on the spot fines can and will be issued to anyone who is flouting the rules. Beaches will be patrolled and access restrictive, effectively to locals only. If you can't walk there, don't go there.

21.01.2022 MAYOR ISSUES A ‘FINAL WARNING’ ON BEACHES AHEAD OF EASTER LONG WEEKEND Sunshine Coast Council Mayor and Local Disaster Management Group Chair, Mark Jamieson ...is warning people to avoid crowding and gathering in groups even when exercising - or local beaches will close. If people don’t make sensible choices on their own, then public areas like beaches will be closed, Mayor Jamieson said. I made that clear last week and this is the final warning. Those who are on the beaches or in parks sunbaking, reading or gathering together to eat or socialise are in breach of the law. He also reminded residents not to invite family and friends to visit for the upcoming Easter long weekend. Staying home is the safest place to be at this time. Mayor Jamieson also urged people not to take vigilante action if they witnessed people breaching social distancing rules. The last thing we want is for frustrations to boil over and matters to get out of hand, he said. We’ve had reports of people attempting to restrict access to crowded areas and locations by placing signs at entry points. This cannot and should not happen if there are concerns about people congregating in a local area, then the best thing to do is to contact the QPS... 15.01.2022 As a Community Club we are here to support the members and visitors of the Sunshine Coast. Our employees, members and your guests’ health and safety are our to...p priority. We have made a number of additional changes, as per the governments’ advice to our hygiene and handling procedures. After recent government updates we are still open and have made every effort to offer a safe and healthy environment for you and your family. Our Bistro is currently open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week, with the Beachside Kiosk open 7 days for takeaway orders. We will continue with updates when more information becomes available to us. 01.01.2022 Understandably, we have been receiving a large volume of queries regarding the status of this year's event and we appreciate your patience during these difficul...t times. We have been monitoring government guidelines regarding COVID-19 restrictions, and with the latest declaration from the Queensland Government that the Public Health Emergency has now been extended to 17 August, we are incredibly disappointed to share that these tight restrictions on mass gatherings, make it impossible to hold our event as planned in August this year. Registered participants are offered the option of a full refund minus a $10 admin fee; or deferral to next year’s edition of the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon Festival on 15 August 2021. If you would like to receive a refund, please email [email protected] by midnight Monday 15 June. If you are happy to transfer, no action needs to be taken. After 15 June, any participants who have not requested a refund will be automatically transferred to 2021. Please allow several weeks for us to respond and process your refunds while we work through this with our small team. We are incredibly disappointed to deliver this news, and appreciate the support of our wonderful running community during this time. Please keep an eye out for exciting news coming around a virtual offering from Atlas Events, to keep you motivated and hitting your running goals in this "new norm". We appreciate your patience in the meantime and if you have contacted us over the last few weeks, please be aware we are dealing with a significant volume of enquiries and will respond to you as soon as possible.
