19.01.2022 Last week I flew to Melbourne and spent a few days there filled with interesting events. Visiting the VAMFF and the National Gallery of Victoria were just two of them. I was lucky to attend it before VAMFF cancelled the rest of the runways, before NGV announced its closure and so many flights were canceled. While I was there, I visited the NGV exhibition of one of the famous Japanese fashion designers Rei Kawakubo (of Comme des Garçons). She is one of the most visionary and ...influential fashion designers working today. Rei Kawakubo is an integral fashion figure in contemporary fashion. For four decades she has been creating unique, unforgettable designs, pioneering in never before thought of ways to make clothes. They dont fit in normal stereotypes, and year after year her designs are unlike anything else. I remember the time when I was learning about her and her deconstructed garments (construction and deconstruction style). It was the early 2000s and all these years later I got the chance to look so closely at it, and it was amazing! I have good knowledge in patternmaking, but when I saw some garments such as a dress made of unfinished sleeves, a half dress and shorts made of pants and sleeves etc., I just couldnt imagine the actual, preliminary pattern of those garmentsIt probably doesnt exist or she used the draping method :) Anyway, I wont post hundreds of photos that I took that day in case some of you want to attend this exhibition later as it is on till the end of July, 2020, but some photos I just have to show you! #reikawakubo #designer #fashiondesigner #dressmaker #brisbanedressmaker #brisbanedesigner #slowfashion #madefromscratch #madetoorder #custommadedress #weddingdress #eveninggown #formaldress #sewingtechniques #alteration #mangohill #northlakes

19.01.2022 My workroom is full of sparkling sequins for the last couple of days. Preparing front of the top for sewing. I should remove all sequins from darts and seam allowances. 19.01.2022 My dear friends, customers and followers! This year was amazingly interesting and busy for me. I did much more than I could imagine myself doing last year. I was pleased to meet many new people throughout this year. Thank you my customers for trusting me to make all of your wonderful ideas and wishes come to life. Thank you my family for supporting me and all my ideas! My last project for 2018 is done and dusted. I have finished clean up of my studio and now it's time to say ...goodbye to 2018 I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! See you in 2019! 17.01.2022 Finally I have a chance to post my own isolation project that I designed to refresh my living/dining area at home. After living in pastel colours for many years, I decided to completely change my colour pallete in several parts of my home. I added a bright (and bold!) berry red to the walls, and a lovely green and white for the curtains and cushions. It was a very brave decision on my part, but thanks to the support my family gave me, it turned out much better than we could have ever imagined. My daydream made into reailty! #designer #designerbrisbane #sewing #alteration #madetoorder #madefromscratch #madetoorder
16.01.2022 The toile is done. Now it is time to start cutting and sewing. I always make a toile/mock up in cheap fabric first, so my customer and I can check and alter how the pattern fits and design looks before I cut into nice and expensive fabric. This is one of the differences between production of fast fashion garments and custom made designs. #brisbanedressmaker #brisbanedesigner #madefromscratch #custommadedress #slowfashion #sewingtechniques #sewing #madetoorder... @ Mango Hill See more
