21.01.2022 If you frequently travel to Adelaide via the South-Eastern Freeway, please be aware that the Department for Infrastructure and Transport is undertaking major pavement rehabilitation works between the Toll Gate and the Crafers Interchange. The works will commence on 7 February and continue until July 2021 (weather permitting), and be conducted at night time (and possibly some weekends) to minimise the impact on traffic. 19.01.2022 Many of us have been affected by suicide and the consequences can be devastating, complex and long-lasting for families and communities. The draft Suicide Prevention Bill proposes to establish measures to reduce suicide in South Australia. It will promote a whole of community focus, underpinned by sustained engagement with the community, government and non-government agencies, and community organisations such as Suicide Prevention Networks. You are invited to provide feedback on the draft Bill (consultation closes 12 Feb). 18.01.2022 If you or someone you know is aged 12-18 years and keen to develop skills in aspects of theatre and film, the Alexandrina Youth Theatre and Film workshops are a great way to network with others and learn from professionals. Specialist tuition in physical theatre, clowning, drama, speech, acting, camera, devising and writing will have you on your way to Broadway in no time! 17.01.2022 Building designs for the new multi-purpose clubrooms at the Goolwa Oval Sports Precinct have been released this week. The design follows a detailed consultation process with nine of Goolwa’s sporting groups who use the current facilities, and brings to life their aspirations to create a family friendly space that brings people together. 13.01.2022 Christmas is fast approaching, and while this year’s community celebrations may look a little different to usual, Christmas light displays are very much encouraged in the Alexandrina region. SA Health has provided information on their website advising that it is important to plan your displays in a COVID safe way. And if you are visiting light displays this festive season, make sure you practice social distancing by staying 1.5m apart, use hand sanitiser, don’t touch the displays and please stay home if you’re not feeling well. 11.01.2022 From March 1, the sale and distribution of single-use plastic straws and cutlery will be prohibited in South Australia under State Government legislation, with exemptions for single-use plastic straws to ensure these can still be accessed by people with disabilities or medical needs. 09.01.2022 The State Government is introducing COVID Safe Check-Ins to high traffic businesses from tomorrow (Tues 1 Dec), which aims to enhance contact tracing and keep our community COVID safe. If you are a business operator in Alexandrina, please note that the COVID Safe Check-In system is mandatory for those business who are currently required to keep a contact list under State Government direction. You will receive a QR code when updating your COVID Safe Plan. The mySA GOV app wi...ll have the COVID Safe Check-In feature added to it, which will allow visitors to scan your business’s QR code on arrival. If you already have the app, you will need to update it on Tuesday. The app securely collects limited personal information as you enter a business premises. 05.01.2022 A revised draft Planning and Design Code has been released by the State Planning Commission for further public consultation. The revised draft Code is available online until 5pm on Friday 18 December 2020. It reflects the Commission’s proposed policy improvements and refinements in response to the substantial and constructive feedback from councils and the community from the five-month public consultation process (October 2019 to February 2020).
