Two national party MPs (Canavan and Christensen) have set this up in a matter of hours to fight the vape ban. This is an early game changer but we now need to back them up by getting signatures. I am writing to express my concern in regards to your direction to the TGA on banning the importation of Nicotine as of 01/07/2020. I am a former cigarette smoker who has used a vape to quit combustible tobacco. After many unsuccessful attempts to quit cigarettes, I finally quit through using a vaporiser containing nicotine based e-liquids. I currently have a prescription for nicotine for this purpose, though I am unable to purchase nicotine locally as it is simply not available. My only option is to purchase nicotine e-liquids from overseas and have these posted to my premises as there is no nicotine based e-liquid sold in Australia. I fear that the ban being implemented by yourself is going to prevent me from being able to do this, and ultimately will force me back to combustible tobacco as I will be unable to source liquid Nicotine. I have written to my MP with regards to this matter, though as the Government will not be back in session before this change takes effect, I do not believe that my concerns will be adressed. I implore the Federal Government, and specifically you Mr Hunt, to follow the lead of other nations with respect to Nicotine Vaping products, to follow evidence based studies, and to follow the lead of other countries, such as New Zealand, the UK and the EU Countries, which all support Nicotine in the form of e-liquids for the purpose of quitting cigarettes. Thank you for your time
