22.01.2022 Hooray for Soccer! The children were very excited when Mr Will from Grasshopper Soccer Redlands returned today for soccer lessons. They enjoyed playing "blast off" games with the soccer balls and practising their ball skills.

21.01.2022 Our children have been busy decorating the centre with colour. They have used colourful strips of fabric and weaved it through the fence, hung it from the trees, and wrapped it all over the ship and fort. Thank you to one of our lovely Mums for supplying the fabric. There are also beautiful rainbow paintings along the fence. We believe our message of hope will bring a promise of positivity to everyone who drives past. #rainbowtrail

18.01.2022 Our Bush Kindy program resumes tomorrow and we couldn’t be more excited!!!

18.01.2022 Pyjama Day It is always so special seeing all the children in their pyjamas - they look so extra cuddly! A variety of multi sensory activities were available for the children on this special day. There were food tasting experiences with some very funny faces when they tried lemon and lime and foam play with bubble bath which naturally became a whole body experience. ... The children added their flare to the pyjama painting pictures, explored the mini dinosaur land and ventured to the bed and story book space. #nationalpyjamaday #InMyPJs

17.01.2022 ~ Organic Soap ~ Before our picnic lunch the children were showed a natural way to clean our hands - a traditional way using wattle tree leaves shared by our Quandamooka friends Aunty Nicole and Aunty Wendy. After collecting wattle leaves from the tree and discussing the importance of only taking what we needed, the children were instructed to scrunch the leaves in their hands. We added a dash of water to our hands and rubbed them together really quickly to create natural soap, making our hands fresh, super clean and smelling wonderful.

16.01.2022 To celebrate Book Week At Bush Kindy, we welcomed some curious and wild creatures from The Gruffalo story! Our Kindergarten teacher, disguised as the Gruffalo, engaged the children with the popular story then led them on a hunt to find the hidden characters in our very own woods. Our wild and wonderful children were very excited to discover a large muddy puddle that they enjoyed jumping and splashing in; digging, creating and mixing the mud as their happy and soulful laught...er echoed throughout the bush. #bookweek2020 #bushkindy #forestkindy #kindergarten

15.01.2022 How wonderful it was to be back in the bush! After revisiting our Bush Kindy rules as a group, we then practiced "Dadirri", an aboriginal mindfulness practice that means inner, deep listening; being still and aware of our surroundings using our senses. The children shared that they could hear birds, feel the wind and one child could even hear an owl! It was so beautiful to watch our new Bush Kinders explore their new surroundings with such curiosity and pure wonderment. ... #BushKindy #forestkindy #kindergarten #natureplay #outdoorlearning

13.01.2022 Nothing like an Easter egg hunt to bring smiles to the children's faces.

12.01.2022 Our Quandamooka Aunties Nicole and Wendy visited yesterday and the children engaged in the story of Gathering Tucker from Yarabin-ja Jagun. The Quandamooka people continue to share important relationships with Jara (Mother Earth), Siram Jagun (sky country) and Yarabin-ja Jagun (sea country) and the stories have been created to educate children on the relationships. The children learnt the yugarie shuffle in the sand to look for pippies (yugarie) and and how to dig in the sand to find them, later learning the art of opening and cooking them on the fire. They had the opportunity to look at a midden and to learn their importance to the Quandamooka people. Each child respectfully placed a shell on the midden created in the sandpit. #EmbeddingIndigenousPerspectives #QuandamookaCountry #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe

12.01.2022 Good teachers teach us how to do something, but great teachers teach us why. Good teachers share the facts while great teachers weave facts into real-world applications. Good teachers may do activities, but great teachers create unforgettable learning experiences...while wearing a colourful wig! #STEM #science #earlychildhoodeducation #earlyyears #ecec #AlexandraHills

12.01.2022 A child, more than anyone else is a spontaneous observer of nature. ~ Maria Montessori We were welcomed by a relaxed breeze and an overcast sky today as the children enjoyed resourcing their own play and engaging in purposeful play and learning with their peers and educators in the bush. #BushKindy #forestschoolaustralia #forestkindy #natureplay #kindergarten

10.01.2022 Play is more than enough.

08.01.2022 Encourage your kids to look for nature everywhere you go. It’s the weed breaking through the pavement, It’s the leaves forming small clumps along the side of the road.... It’s the sky at any given time of the day or night. It’s the wind doing what it Likes to your hair. Look around, it won’t take long to find it. ~Penny Whitehouse #bushkindy #forestkindy #kindergarten #natureplay #outdoorplay

08.01.2022 NATIONAL RECYCLING DAY Yesterday the centre celebrated National Recycling Week to raise awareness with the children of the importance of recycling. No toys were offered, only natural or recycled materials. Outdoors they explored - natural loose parts sorting with recycled containers; recycled musical instruments filled with rice, rocks and seeds; a recycled sorting game in which the children identified "yukky rubbish" and recycled rubbish; a ball toss with a recycled ...box, and they made paper using ripped newspaper and water, which they enjoyed squelching in with their feet! Yesyerday was a great opportunity for the children to learn more about caring for their environment. #NationalRecyclingDay

07.01.2022 NAIDOC WEEK At our centre, celebrating NAIDOC Week was a culmination of our learning during our 15 month learning journey with our Quandamooka Aunties Nicole and Wendy. Aunty Nicole joined us to lead our Acknowledgement to Country and spoke to the children in Jandai language.... There were so many fun activities and active games for the children to choose from such as Kangaroo and lizard which are imitation activities; "Prun" which was a game of mock warfare; "mer kolap" which is an object throwing relay game, and "the pan" in which the children used pool noodles in an attempt to hit each other. Meanwhile our children were painting on bark and creating a rainbow serpent; painted rocks; created sand drawings, and played with sock kabuls. Another popular activity was body painting with clay! #alwayswasalwayswillbe #NAIDOCWeek2020

07.01.2022 We love Book Week! WOW....what a fun day we all had yesterday dressing up as our favourite book characters! 05.01.2022 Wishing our beautiful families and staff a safe and happy Easter. A friendly reminder that our centre will be closed Easter Monday as it is a public holiday.

04.01.2022 Today our Kindergarten children celebrated National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day with beautiful indigenous songs and activities in the bush. ATSI Children’s Day is a time for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities to celebrate the strengths and culture of our future elders. The children enjoyed storytelling by tracing Aboriginal symbols in the dirt, making natural soap by adding water and rubbing wattle leaves in their hands as... shared by our Quandamooka friends Aunty Wendy and Aunty Nicole, traditional weaving and painting on natural materials. Before our picnic lunch, we sat together and sang our new acknowledgement to country song, thanking the Quandamooka people for sharing their beautiful land with us on which we play and learn. Then Miss Heather taught the children a beautiful Torres Strait Islander lullaby called ‘Inanay’. Using collected sticks as clap sticks to keep the beat, the children enjoyed learning the lyrics in Yorta Yorta language. I think their favourite part was when we chased the goanna and called out Choo! #EldersOfTomorrow #StrongInCulture #childrensday2020 #BushKindy #forestschoolaustralia
