02.01.2022 Most of the fixtures and finishes in this home were recycled. Using recycled materials can be satisfying. It is also challenge, like stitching together a singl...e jigsaw from a mix of different boxes. This kitchen was created by bringing together separate kitchens, recycled from previous homes. Some of which they had already been recycled. Is that re-recycled? The windows were recycled. The cooktop had lived a former life elsewhere. The home includes other recycled materials: - most of the doors and windows. - The balustrade. - Polished concrete tile flooring (upcycled from second hand pavers) - Even bathroom tiles were sourced from excess stocks. We can all make a positive difference, in reducing the new resources we need to live comfortably. And in informing the lives of those around us through the way we work in our own fields As architects we can choose to reduce our impacts, and those of our clients. This includes in how we design, build, renovate, furnish and live in our homes, and work in our offices. We all make a difference through each of these choices we all make every day.
