25.01.2022 Did you know that the buoyancy and warmth of water births can promote natural labour & provide a safe and effective form of pain management (Z.Kassim 2005) ?! A systematic review of randomised trails has shown that water immersion in labour is associated with reduced epidurals, reduction in spinal or paracervical analgesia and reported levels of women’s pain . In some occasions water births are not an option , in which case there are many other options (totally up to the individual). How did you birth your baby & was a water immersion (bath, shower, birth pool) available to you ? I would love to hear your stories x Obsessed with this photo underwater_diph_photograph
25.01.2022 Do you eat foods specific to your cycle? As women we operate off a 28-30 day cycle, whereas men work off a 24 hour cycle. It’s makes sense for us as women to do eat/exercise/socialise/work differently according to which phase of our cycle we are in . This gorgeous meal here is high in fats and glutathione (egg, avo & beetroot) all of which help to support healthy hormones and to eliminate excess hormones from our bodies . The broccoli sprouts are high in a complex called (DIM) which helps to clear excess oestrogen. Wanna know more , check out my highlight real on cycle syncing x @sofreshnsogreeeeen
25.01.2022 How are you planning on sleeping with your baby? There are many options for sleep with a newborn/ baby, whether it be solitary sleeping, room sharing or co-sleeping . Each arrangement is 100% based off the individual families needs & each have their benefits. Interestingly co-sleeping is a common sleep arrangement for most infants under 6months. One Australian study showed that 80% of infants under 6months had spent some time co-sleeping with their parents. If you would like... learn more about the recommendations surrounding sleeping with your infant, head on over to the @ozbreastfeeding website and check out their pamphlets , there is also a link to this and other resources on my website (link in bio). @bumpselfie

23.01.2022 Dreaming of a sunny holiday ? Getting enough Vitamin D in winter is difficult . Often there isn’t enough UVB exposure for our skin to synthesise adequate levels , even if we are outside in the sunshine. That paired with more skin being covered , can lead to vitamin as deficiency . Vitamin D deficiency is implicated in so many health concerns such as : lowered immunity, cognitive health , mental health , bone health , autoimmunity, skin health and many more ! Vitamin D can be supplemented and can also be found in food sources such as salmon, tuna (fatty fish) , eggs, cheese, mushrooms, soy products and fortified foods. There is also an app called D Minder Pro, which will tell your UVB exposure based on your location (estimated levels), but the best way to check is through a blood test at the GP x @maldiveslivin

20.01.2022 Trying to conceive or thinking about preconception ? Fertility and conception can be quite a journey for any family and can be an emotional roller coaster . Supporting yourself emotionally, physically and spiritually throughout the conception journey is so important ! First thing to remember is ... 1) Be kind to yourself and seek out support if you need it. 2) It takes two to tango . Fertility shouldn’t just be about the woman , as she is only 50% of the equation . Focusing on supporting both partners health , equates to a healthier egg and sperm. 3) Like any other significant physical event , preparation is key. Having very regular s*x helps sperm health , builds intimacy and increases chances of conception . Additionally dedicating some time before your planning on falling pregnant (both partners) to boost health , eliminate toxins and be in your physical peak is really helpful (aka baby prep). 4) Optimising diet and nutrition is a key element of fertility . I Love this infographic from the @the_dietologist, outlining helpful preconception supplements for women. What did you find helpful in your conception journey ? X
18.01.2022 My journey with Rosacea. My skin has always been quite rosey but last year when i moved to Tassie, it got so much worse . I was constantly flushed and had developed small red bumps all over my face, neck and chest. The bumps initially started on my cheeks and then spread. My face was so painful, sensitive and was triggered by absolutely everything . My confidence took a real dive and as a Naturopath I was SO conscious of how I was presenting to the world . I enlisted the help... of a corneotherapist @clearskin_expert & @relaxyoudeserveit & started using @dermaviduals products. I also got help from a wonderful gut Naturopath & got tested for everything under the sun (SIBO, H-pylori, Intestinal permeability, blood work). It turned out that my gut was SO leaky (almost off the charts) & so for the last couple of months I’ve been working to heal my gut. It has been a LONG journey , with many highs and lows - but I’m happy to say that i’m finally making progress and I’m getting back to loving the skin I’m in. I’m sharing this because I understand how frustrating skin concerns can be, BUT there is light at the end of the tunnel See more
18.01.2022 Are you struggling to fall asleep? Here are some helpful tips, which you may find useful. If you would like further help, feel free to book in for a consult.
17.01.2022 Ever thought about taking probiotics ? Here are a few things you need to know. Probiotics are strain specific , this means that each specific strain of probiotic has a specific function- so instead of taking a broad spectrum probiotic, you are better off speaking to a health professional to find the right probiotic strain for your condition. Probiotics transiently colonise the gut mucosa , they aren’t permanently there. We can manipulate the gut microbiome through the use of ...prebiotic foods. Probiotics differ from prebiotics, prebiotics are complex carbohydrates which act as the metabolic fuel source for the beneficial bacteria in our gut. Probiotics can be found both in food and can be supplemented, Vaalia yogurt has three proven strains of probiotics & has a therapeutic effect from just one cup a day. If dairy isn’t your jam, fermented foods act as colonic foods, which will help to build up beneficial bacteria in colon. Want to improve your gut health ? Book in a consult today! See more
15.01.2022 Here’s a great video on the components of breast milk !
14.01.2022 Love this post from @_fem21_ . Poly cystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is such a common condition, effecting 12-21% of women in reproductive age. 14.01.2022 Want to make your shower an aromatherapy experience ?! Tie up a bunch of your favourite aromatic leaves and pop them in the shower, you’ll be feeling like you’re at a day spa in no time. The steam and heat will release the volatile oils in the leaves, making your shower smell like a dream. My favourite are Eucalyptus leaves, they release such a relaxing and grounding scent - all the while being a great antibacterial Let me know if you try this out !
13.01.2022 Aren’t women’s bodies incredible ? Here are some fun facts for y’all -A pregnant woman’s uterus can increase up to 500x its usual size > - Voice changes can occur , as high levels of sex hormones can alter the vocal cords, making the voice slightly lower... - pregnancy can make your hair thicker and shinier and can increase overall body hair - pregnant women develop about an extra 5% of muscle during pregnancy! @shanbaileee
12.01.2022 Love this post from @botanic.ave ! Syncing with your cycle is SO important ! Did you know that men run off a 24 hour clock , whereas women run off a 28-30 day clock This means that it makes sense for us women to ALTER what we do according to which phase of our cycle we’re in. When we are in sync with our cycle, our hormones, emotions, physical abilities and social connections can be enhanced ! Let me know if this is something you would like to learn more about , I’m so passionate about it Who here tracks their cycle ? If so which app do you use ? X
12.01.2022 My FAV time of year ! Here are some fun facts about my favourite fruit 1) More fresh mangoes are eaten around the world every day than any other fruit. 2) They were first grown in India over 5,000 years ago. In fact, the paisley pattern which was first developed there, is based on the shape of a mango. 3) It is believed that Buddha meditated under the cool shade of a mango tree. 4) Mango comes in many different shapes, sizes and colors including yellow, orange, red and gre...en. 5) The vitamin content of mango depends on the variety and maturity of the fruit. When a mango is green and still growing there is a high vitamin C content, as the fruit ripens and matures the amount of vitamin A increases. 6) Giving someone a basket of mangoes is considered a gesture of friendship. 7) The mango tree plays a sacred role in India; it’s a symbol of love and some believe that they can even grant wishes. 8) The oldest living mango tree is 300 years old and is found in East Khandesh. Surprisingly, this tree still produces viable fruit! 9) Mangos are related to cashews and pistachios. Can you see the resemblance? 10) Mango leaves are often used at weddings to ensure the couple bear plenty of children. @creatingahealthylife_

In my meditations that’s where I imagine myself & I feel instantly relaxed. 2) I love travelling ! After that I travelled to every continent except Antartica, mostly by myself. 3) My most favourite food is Avocado. My family used to hide the avo in the salads from me, but I was an expert in finding it 4) I idolised my older sister @kristenpavezhealth, she is six years older then me- but anything she liked, I liked . 06.01.2022 Ever wished or felt pressured to have a baby that sleeps through the night ? Although the thought of a full nights sleep sounds very tempting, night time parenting is a very normal and important aspect of parenting an infant. Breastfeeding throughout the night helps to keep baby satiated and hydrated, but also drastically helps with milk supply. ... The breast works on a demand/supply system & so feeding through the night helps to ensure that adequate breast milk is being formed & that the breasts are being drained effectively. The @ozbreastfeeding has SO many amazing resources available for mums surrounding nursing. I’d highly recommend checking them out. @meghanjenay

03.01.2022 Here’s what you need to know. Morning sickness is an affliction which affects 70%-80% of pregnant women. Whilst called morning sickness, it can often last all day & may or not be accompanied with vomiting. Here are some helpful tips to get you through. 1) Eat first thing in the morning , nausea is often worse on an empty stomach - so have a stash of crackers/ cereal on your bed side table. 2) Carbs are key , the stomach often handles plain foods better. Shoot for whole grai...n pasta, grains, sourdough breads, quinoa , sweet potato- as they will help stabilise your blood sugar levels. 3) Eat small, frequent meals . We want our blood sugar levels to be stable & nausea is also worse on a very full stomach. 4) Ginger, Ginger, Ginger. Ginger tea, Ginger chews , Ginger grated in food. 5) Avoid strong smells in the kitchen, get your partner to feed the dog/ cat & take out the bins if you’re finding it offensive. What helped you the most through your morning sickness ? See more
03.01.2022 Did you know that eating dates in pregnancy can help with labour ?! Studies suggest that eating six dates per day, for four weeks leading up to the estimated due date had higher rates of spontaneous labour , higher rates of cervical dilation as they were admitted to hospital , higher rates of intact membranes & shorter first phases of labour! Dates contain saturated and unsaturated fatty acids , which help provide energy to the production of prostaglandins (which help with cervical ripening) . They also contain serotonin, calcium and tannins which help with the smooth muscle contraction of the uterus . @healthylifestylen_n
