21.01.2022 Who is getting married in 2020? tag them below

19.01.2022 What sort of qualifications do marriage celebrants require? In the early days, celebrants were authorised if they were considered ‘fit and proper’ persons. Things are much more rigorous now and in the past few years, the marriage celebrants program has undergone tremendous change. Celebrants must complete an official course of study, apply to the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department for authorisation and participate in professional learning every year. The introductio...n of an annual professional registration fee in July 2014 only serves to strengthen the professionalism of civil celebrants. There are a number of newer, more modern celebrants around now, bringing other work and life experiences to the role and diversity, energy and enthusiasm to the profession. So what are you waiting for? You'll remember your wedding day forever, so make sure you remember the person who declared you 'husband and wife' for all the right reasons.

15.01.2022 Calling past brides! I’d love to post some new photos from weddings in the past year. If you can send me some pics you’d be happy for me to post that would be great

12.01.2022 One of my favourite parts of the wedding is stepping out there for the first time with the groom and his bridal party. Talking about what we're going to do and helping to calm their nerves is always special.

04.01.2022 10 tips for choosing your celebrant 1. Ask your friends or work colleagues who were recently married. While everyone's different, a personal recommendation is always a good place to start. 2. Start with the celebrant’s website and/or Facebook page. Lots of celebrants are now using other forms of social media too. Do you get a good first impression? 3. Save yourself some time and organise a chat on the phone first before you decide to meet them, or exchange a few emails to... ‘get a feel’ for their personality. 4. Do they offer an ‘obligation free’ meeting to see if they are the right person for you? 5. Can the celebrant confidently explain the legal requirements for your situation? 6. Do they have photos or examples of other ceremonies they have conducted? Check out what they are wearing, where they are standing, etc. Wedding trailers are even better so you can hear how they sound - perhaps they have one of their own? 7. What’s the background of your celebrant? A celebrant who has performed 1000 ceremonies might be fabulous but don’t make ‘how many ceremonies have you performed?’ your only guide. Lots of newer celebrants come with experience in writing, public speaking, are prepared to try new ideas and are great communicators. 8. Can they help you write your own vows and do they have lots of samples and great ideas for your ceremony? Writing the ceremony should be a shared undertaking, with you being guided to have the ceremony YOU want. 9. Will they come to, and facilitate, a rehearsal? Rehearsals aren’t always required (after all, you’re putting your faith in someone who’s hopefully done this more than a few times before), but sometimes assist in clarifying who is standing where, etc. 10. What sorts of things are included in the fee? Are there any additional charges? - See more at: http://www.annlord.com.au//ten-tips-to-help-you-choose-you

04.01.2022 Have you heard? You can now have 10 people at your wedding as of tomorrow! Yep that's right, a party of 10! You and your partner, your 2 witnesses, 5 guests and me! So if want to have a beautiful, memorable ceremony as soon as possible, let's start the legal paperwork and get your wedding happening.

03.01.2022 Are you newly engaged and starting to plan your wedding? Often the venue and the date are the first to be determined, followed by the photographer, etc. Smart couples also add 'the celebrant' to that list of big decisions and make sure the person they want to marry them is available. While the dress, the flowers, the photographs and the party are all important elements of the ‘big day’, your ceremony is the one chance to have someone tell your story and convey your love for... each other in front of your family and friends. There are so many things to consider. You may want to write your own vows, have someone read a special poem or even incorporate a ritual from your family’s cultural background. It also needs to look good, with as much consideration given to the choreography as the choice of words themselves. So what do you need to know? Getting married in Australia In Australia you can be married by a minister of religion, by a state or territory registry officer or by an authorised civil marriage celebrant. Civil marriage celebrants have been around since about 1973, giving couples a meaningful alternative to a church or registry office wedding. You can choose to be married wherever you like, at any time of the day (or night) and have a lot of flexibility in the creation of your wedding ceremony. In short, apart from a few mandatory elements, getting married by a civil celebrant means your ceremony can be as traditional or as contemporary as you like.
