25.01.2022 Coming back into SMOOTHIE SEASON! Although does smoothie season ever really end? But as the weather warms I certainly don’t feel like the heavier meals I look forward to in Winter so smoothies are relied upon a lot - easy way to get the nutrients in - a mix of fruit, veggies, good fat, protein - a blend and go option and so good for the kids that are a little fussy when it comes to meals. What’s your favourite smoothie combo? I’m loving berries, zucchini, peanut butter, hemp ...seeds and coconut milk at the moment (+/- collagen powder). . . . #smoothies #smoothie #smoothiebowls #smoothierecipes #nutrientdense #fussykids #pregnancynutrition #digestion #nutrientabsorption #nutrients #nutrition #nutritionist #health #healthandwellbeing #healthyeating #eattherainbow See more

Our body is talking to us all the time, and these complaints are messages to us that something is out of balance or an area of your body is not happy. Nutrient deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, stress, and toxic load can be some of the causes... don’t ignore common health complaints, investigate! . . . #commonnotnormal #healthcomplaints #nutrientdeficiencies #hormonalimbalance #hormones #gut #signsandsymptoms #pms #nutrition #nutritionist #midwife #healthy #health #wellbeing #food #guthealth #healthylife #healthandwellbeing #pregnancy #sydney

16.01.2022 What are CRITICAL PERIODS (in pregnancy)? These are times of INTENSE DEVELOPMENT of the fetus - and they are critical because those cellular activities can only happen at those particular times. The development of each organ and tissues is most vulnerable to external influences during its own critical period, this includes nutrient deficiencies of the mother and toxin exposures. Some of these critical periods occur between 2 - 6 weeks gestation - before most know they are eve...n pregnant; which is why preconception care is so important - correct nutrient deficiencies, limit stress and toxin exposure - this goes for mum AND dad. . . . #preconception #preconceptioncare #mum #mumtobe #pregnant #newborn #fetaldevelopment #foetaldevelopment #criticalperiods #nutrientdefiencies #goodnutrition #lowtox #nutrition #nutritionist #midwife #healthy #health #wellbeing #food #guthealth #healthylife #healthandwellbeing #pregnancy #sydney #mumlife See more

11.01.2022 We are all know that raw fish, non-pasteurised cheese and alcohol are a no-go in pregnancy but I don’t hear too many people talk about sprouts..... yes SPROUTS should be avoided in pregnancy as they are very susceptible to bacteria growth, and not the good kind. Pregnant? Avoid sprouts - all kinds. You’ll see them on top of Asian soups eg pho and laksa, stirfries, and they can often be put on takeaway salad sandwiches... . . . #listeria #listeriosis #sprouts #avoidsprouts #badbacteria #pregnancynutrition #nutrition #nutritionist #midwife #healthy #health #wellbeing #food #guthealth #healthylife #healthandwellbeing #pregnancy #sydney #pregnancyhealth

10.01.2022 ITCHING IN PREGNANCY Most women will experience some form of skin itching in pregnancy. With a growing belly and stretching skin to accommodate, plus hormonal changes in pregnancy the skin can feel dry, sensitive and itchy. In this case try and avoid synthetic or rough fabrics with your clothing, use a natural moisturiser like coconut oil, keep up your essential fatty acids in your diet, keep water intake up, and try not to over scratch which can irritate the area - sometimes... a cool cloth helps! But when is itchiness a real concern in pregnancy...? CHOLESTASIS is a condition in pregnancy that can come from a malfunction of mums liver, and causes a build of bile acids in the body. Itchiness with cholestasis will be very persistent and not easily relieved (if at all!) and will be distinctly on the soles of feet and/or palms of hands, and in severe cases can spread to the belly, but will start with palms and feet. It will usually occur in the 3rd trimester, or occasionally late in the 2nd trimester. There is NO rash. If concerned about cholestasis contact your hospital where you are booked or your midwife or Dr. . . . #cholestasis #problemsinpregnancy #pregnancycomplaints #itchinginpregnancy #hormonalchangesinpregnancy #skin #skinhealth #pregnancyhealth #pregnant #health #nutrition #midwife #healthcareprofessional #midwifery #midwiferycare See more

High in vitamins and antioxidants, great for digestion with its high fibre content and enzymes to help break down proteins.... but is it safe to eat in pregnancy?
