23.01.2022 The Repair Cafe scheduled for Sat 13th is now cancelled due to stage 4 lockdown in Victoria. Hopefully we can host the March event. Stay safe everyone

23.01.2022 We are thrilled to be back repairing and sharing in 2020. On Saturday we hosted our first Repair Cafe event for this year. It was lovely to catch up with fixer friends and to meet new community members to promote the mending movement. Our most popular item this month was vacuum cleaners, with 3 vacuums requiring our attention! Our next repair event will be on Saturday 14th March. Come join us for another wonderful afternoon of fixing and cultivating community connections.

23.01.2022 Did anyone see the article in the Age Good Weekend Magazine yesterday? A wonderful story about the why mending matters and how it can foster a sense of community.

22.01.2022 Our last Repair Cafe for 2019 was held on 14th Dec. It was a lovely afternoon of mending and making community connections. We are taking a break in January and will be back sharing and repairing on Sat 8th Feb. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Repair Cafe volunteers - we can not do this without you! Wishing you all a wonderful festive season and a safe and happy New Year. See you all in 2020!

22.01.2022 We are excited to announce that Alexandra Repair Cafe is recommencing! Join us on Sat 14th Nov from 1-3pm. The event will be hosted outside to meet covid guidelines. Bookings are essential - no walk ins. You can contact us via email, facebook or phone to book a spot and let us know what you are bringing in to be fixed.

20.01.2022 A reminder our first Repair Cafe event for 2021 will be this Saturday 13th Feb, 1-3pm. We have a great bunch of volunteers who can help you mend your broken stuff. Please contact us via DM or email ([email protected]) to let us know what you are bringing in to be fixed so that we can have the right tools available on the day. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

20.01.2022 We hosted our 19th Repair Cafe event yesterday. It was a small affair - only 8 people in total. Lots of hand sanitiser, temperature checking and masks were available this time too. We had a great result with all attendees items being fixed. We will continue to monitor the pandemic and if circumstances allow, will host the event again in August with a similar format to limit participants and ensure we comply with covid restrictions. Many thanks to all our volunteers. Take care and stay safe everyone.

13.01.2022 We were thrilled to be backing fixing and making community connections on Saturday at Alexandra Repair Cafe. A little different from usual with mandatory masks and loads of hand sanitizer. It was lovely to see everyone again, we were so busy catching up we forgot to take the usual pics of all our fixed items! We will be back in December for our last repairing and sharing event for 2020.

12.01.2022 We are back hosting our in person repairing and sharing event. Please book a 30 minute appointment with us via FB messenger, email us [email protected] or call us on 0422 225 801.... Bookings are essential. No walks in. 11.01.2022 Our first actual Repair Cafe since the start of the pandemic went ahead last Saturday. Woohoo! We adapted to the restrictions by making the event by appointment only, limiting and spacing out the fixers, having a strict cleaning regime with plenty of hand sanitiser and temperature checking everyone on arrival. It was lovely to be able to connect with the community again and continue conversations about the repairing movement. We look forward to doing it again in July with a similar format. Thanks again to the many volunteers who make this event possible.

10.01.2022 It was a glorious sunny Saturday for our 16th Repair Cafe event. There was plenty of opportunity to have a cuppa and chat and cultivate community connections. Despite a quieter than usual affair, we had a high rate of successful repairs from items bought in. Given the ever changing challenges associated with COVID-19, we have made the responsible decision to suspend all future Repair Cafe events until further notice. We will restart when it is safe to gather in groups again. Please look out for each other, especially those who are vulnerable. We look forward to continuing mending, sharing and caring in our community in the near future. Stay safe everyone.

09.01.2022 Instead of buying something to replace that broken thing, why not give the Gift of Repair this Christmas. Our last Repair Cafe event for this year will be on Sat Dec 14th 1-3pm. We have talented volunteers fixers who can help you with book binding, sewing, musical instruments, electrics, computer/phones and general repairs. There will be mince pies and plenty of festive cheer. Please send us a message with a description of your item prior to the event to ensure we have the right tools on hand. What will you bring to repair?

09.01.2022 We understand the importance of still being able to remain connected whilst practicing physical distancing measures during this COVID-19 crisis. It just means getting a little bit creative! So in the absence of being able to host a physical event, we have decided to launch the Alexandra Virtual Repair Cafe! An online space where we can still provide advice, share skills and connect. Now more than ever we need to support and help each other and continue to promote the repair and share movement. Watch this space!

08.01.2022 Alexandra Repair Cafe is back for 2020! Join us for RC #15 on Saturday 8th Feb from 1-3pm at the Embassy of Ideas Community Space. We will have volunteer repairers to help with sewing, electrics, IT, musical instruments and general repairs. We will also have knife sharpening (limit 1 item per person). And of course there is the Tinker kids corner and free trade table. Drop in for a cuppa and chat and be part of the mending movement!

07.01.2022 Happy International Repair Day!

07.01.2022 We are back making community connections and promoting the mending movement! Join us at our first Repair Cafe for 2021 on Sat 13th Feb from 1-3pm at the Embassy of Ideas Community Space.

03.01.2022 Staying home with my awesome repaired coffee pot. Thinking about the virtual repair cafe. Repairers, we'll be in touch this week.

03.01.2022 It's nearly time for the next Alexandra Repair Cafe at the Embassy of Ideas. Here's a flashback to last month's Covid-19 edition Alexandra Repair Cafe from home - you may recognise some of our fixers. In case you are wondering, we didn't quite get the Coffee pot or the fairy lights fully 'fixed' but Lee just needed to pick up a couple of parts to be done. https://youtu.be/RVFrpqJ1GPI

02.01.2022 Its National Volunteer Week! We want to acknowledge all our amazing Repair Cafe fixers & helpers who volunteer their time every month to share their skills and knowledge with the community. THANK YOU for promoting the joy of mending and for being part of this global share and repair movement.

02.01.2022 On the second Saturday in May we held our usual Repair Cafe event...this time it went virtual! It was definitely a learning curve as we navigated ZOOM to allow everyone to participate, share and listen. The local event lasted for over 2 hours, and we are finalizing a short "highlights" video clip which we will post shortly. Thanks to everyone who participated in our first virtual event. We hope to take on board the learning from this experience and looking forward to future virtual repairing and sharing opportunities.
