16.01.2022 MEASLES ALERT BRISBANE Metro North Public Health Unit (MNPHU) has today confirmed a case of measles in Brisbane in an adult male. The person affected trav...elled on two international flights during their infectious period, including: Flight QF5294 (Qantas/Jetstar): Phnom Penh, Cambodia to Singapore, which departed around 1430 on 17/02/2020 Flight QF52 (Qantas/Jetstar): Singapore to Brisbane, which arrived at approximately 6am on 18/2/2020 Members of the public who were in these areas, on this date, need to be alert for symptoms of measles for the next three weeks. The symptoms usually start around 10 days after contact with the infectious person, but are known to occur between seven and 18 days after contact. The initial symptoms of measles include fever, lethargy, runny nose, moist cough and sore and red eyes. This is followed a few days later by a blotchy, red rash. The rash often starts on the face then becomes widespread over the body. Contact your GP or call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) for more information. If you have any of the measles symptoms contact your GP and remember it is VERY important to call the medical practice first if you think you might have measles, so that staff can take precautions to avoid you spreading it to others. Anyone born after 1965 who was in these areas and who has not been fully vaccinated against measles (two doses of MMR) should contact their GP. (Note: image is not of diagnosed patient - patient is an adult, this is merely the best image to show the symptoms).
