19.01.2022 Alice Springs Velodrome Race Results Word: Mike Heyburn. Pictures: Reg hatch 6 Nov 20... 500m TT Miss and Out Win and Out Repechage One Lap Slow Race Already week 5 of our 10-week track racing series and we are consistently seeing good numbers in the field. As we lay down more time trial times riders can be obsessive trying to drive down their times. Satisfying when you smash your previous PB and agonizing when you are off your best by just tenths. We have seen it all. James PartridgeFamilyBike London set the standard laying down an awesome 37.85s ride which is down there with some of the best we have seen on our track. Jack Campbell after a thorough two-minute warmup put down his first TT as did Craig Morreski, Max Yffer, Adrian Basso and David JuniorGear Thornton. Emma MerckxofMassDestruction Shearer smoked her first TT time by 1.07s and Owen dropped off 0.79sthat is really giving it a beating! Good riding. Times in photos. We led off the night with scratch races to get riders close to the red zone before time trialing and then got into the Miss and Out races where the last rider in each lap is dropped from the race until the race is left with two riders who race for the win. Always good for fast laps and exciting finishes each lap while riders avoid elimination. The following race was a Win and Out Repechage and included the first three riders that were eliminated in the Miss and Out in each A and B race. First rider over the line wins and leaves the track while the rest of the field contends for second, then third and then fourth. Always a lung burner. Last race for the night was one of the coolest races and a great crowd pleaser, the One Lap Slow Race. Our whole field was on the track riding at a pace with a commissaire walking along the track. Riders had to stay in front of the commissaire until they ride an entire lap. Once reaching the start line again, riders cannot pass the start line or clip out of their bike. It became a battle of who could ride the slowest or hold a track stand. When the field was reduced to four riders those riders then took off for a one lap race to the finish. All but Jack Campbell and Owen Chenhall held back from the start line and stayed on the bike and they took off for the final sprint where Owen came over the top of a fast-moving Jack in the third turn for the win. A super fun race and one we will see again. B-Grade 6 Lap Scratch 1. Jai Basso 2. David Thornton 3. Max Yffer 4. Emma Shearer A-Grade 8 Lap Scratch 1. Michael Harrison 2. James London 3. 18.01.2022 Thanks to all who attended the AGM and Awards presentation tonight. It was a great friendly atmosphere befitting the club. It was remiss not to have said it at the time, but can I now say a huge thank you to outgoing president, Brenda Bruce for all her work and contribution to the role and progressing the ASCC as a whole over the last two years. Your shoes will be hard to fill (which is probably why no one put up their hand for president - yet!). Please consider this rewarding role, and you will well supported by a fantastic committee. Thanks again Brenda. Max Yffer Vice President ASCC

05.01.2022 Alice Springs Velodrome Race Results 13 Nov 20 Words: Mike Heyburn. Pics: Reg Hatch... Kierin 1000m TT 4 Lap Handicap Unknown Distance Week 6 of our 10 Track racing series started on a perfect nightwarm track and calm conditions but the wind picked up as we got into the program. Riders are in that max effort zone now riding consistent times unless your James London who destroyed his first time by over 2 seconds and Jack Campbell over 4.5 seconds. Started the night with a Kierin to get the heart moving faster and then a 4 lap handicap after the time trial and finished with an unknown distance. B grade race drew 10 laps when the range was 6-10 laps, and the A’s rode 7 laps when the range was 12 laps. Great numbers again! See you for week 7 next week! Shout out to Max Duffell, first time out on the velodrome. Great job! Times in photos.
