23.01.2022 While travelling in places like Central America, I came to appreciate and embrace the slow life. The life where women sit down together and create traditional textiles and handicrafts or dishes of amazing food from single ingredients. We have largely lost that kind of beautiful simplicity here in the so called developed world. But maybe with #covid_19 some people have gotten involved with starting out arts and crafts that they’ve been interested in trying for a long time. Have you, and if so what have you tried? #guatemala #lakeatitlan #lagoatitlan #weaver #loom #traditional #culture #documentaryphotography #portrait #portraitphotography #portrait_perfection #ngophotographer #documentary
22.01.2022 Armani is a young Dunghutti Gumbaynggirr Darug woman. She wanted to do a Cultural Shoot to embrace and celebrate her Aboriginal culture. 19.01.2022 Armani has scoliosis. Her curved spine is not only painful, it also affects her confidence. As a way to empower and celebrate herself, Armani came up with a beautiful idea to bring her culture into a photograph in a way that shows her unique body. #celebratediversity #scoliosis #portraitphotography #crescenthead #portraitmood #portraitpage
19.01.2022 It brings me such joy to get feedback like this. I work so hard on every shoot to make sure my clients fall in love with their photographs. It’s so lovely to get feedback like this. Thanks Aleesha
11.01.2022 I am passionate about Cultural Photo Shoots. I acknowledge the history of the country I was born on. The ancient past when the First Nations peoples cared so deeply and so well for this continent. And the events that took place after colonisation, specifically the government’s attempt to wipe out Aboriginal culture through the Assimilation Policies. As a result there are many young people who don’t know the traditional culture of their grandparents and great grandparents, bu...t who are now striving to reconnect with practices and knowledge that should have been passed down to them. I am grateful to be able to help people celebrate and create a visual record through photography. My most recent shoot was with this lovely lady, Aleesha, a Dunghutti Gumbaynggirr woman who was visiting from Moree #culturalshoot #aboriginalaustralia #dunghutti #gumbaynggirr #indigenous #dunghutticountry See more
03.01.2022 To some people it might be strange that my husband and I have chosen to live in a small house. Just 35 square metres that we built from earth and straw with our own hands. But all around the world when we’ve travelled we’ve seen families who live in smaller spaces than ours. The compact apartments in Japan, the single room spaces in poor areas of India, huts in the Amazon and this space in Guatemala. To me it’s more important to have a big outdoor space for my daughter to run around in and a food forest and veggie patch to provide our nourishment. And of course quality time to spend together as a family. #guatemala #culture #tradition #lagoatitlan
