23.01.2022 Just over two years ago my carpenter husband had a work place accident. He was in a rush, skipped some stairs on the decent and then missed a heap more..... he shattered his heel into 8 pieces. They couldnt do surgery to fix it, there was nothing to screw into. He was off work for 22 weeks. He now has a slight limp and will always have pain in it. We had just had a cyclone days earlier and had a yard to clear, we had just gotten a new puppy that had to stay inside for 12 wee...ks until he was fully vaccinated. And I was stressed out and annoyed. The impacts of my husbands accident on our family was immense. The father of our house was incapacitated so my workload probably more than doubled. Our planned hiking trip couldnt go ahead and then there was the lost wages. I am just grateful that his accident wasnt more serious and that to date, he hasnt needed surgery. WORK SAFE, HOME SAFE! (The bruising photos were taken 6 weeks after the accident! OUCH!)

17.01.2022 Were looking for qualified construction professionals to help bring to life a new idea for the Cahills Crossing viewing platform, where around 60 per cent of o...ur visitors head to for the iconic Kakadu experience of watching crocodiles gather en masse. Parks Australia has been working with traditional owners to develop a concept to upgrade the viewing platform area, and were now looking for a design and construct team to help us produce a high quality, sustainable and environmentally friendly product which can cater for and withstand large numbers of visitors, while also ensuring it is in keeping with the unique Kakadu landscape. Included in the concept for the area are plans for two new viewing decks, giving visitors a fantastic view of the crocs at the crossing; a new forest walking trail where visitors can learn more about the local flora and fauna; rest areas where visitors can relax and take a picnic; safer travel paths between the car park and the main visitor facilities; and replacement of signage for improved visitor information and safety. Qualified professionals who are keen to get on board with these ideas and work collectively with the traditional owners and the team at Kakadu, are encouraged to apply. The upgrade of the viewing platform at Cahills Crossing is part of the Australian Governments $216 million investment into the revitalisation of Kakadu National Park for growth in tourism through new and upgraded infrastructure. What the incredible teams have that the average or below-average teams have is real relationships with each other. They are open in their communication, they genuinely care for each other and they dont bring ego into the workplace very often. These teams are like professional sporting teams, the team is chasing the trophy and no single individual will be able to get them there to win it. When there are too much ego and disconnection between team members, there is very little chance of everyone winning the trophy. Invest in building a strong culture through clear Purpose, Mission, and Core Values and this will bring them together and help you achieve what you are looking for. #chemistry #team #communication

He b...elieved that if you did it all yourself, it would be cheaper and you could do it better. This was great up until a point but it didnt serve me when I started to get busy. I would try and do everything myself and eventually, I burned out. I am sure you can relate. Its easy to get caught up in the busy work and always use the I am busy card. But are you making progress on the most important things that drive the business forward?
