25.01.2022 So each week I will introduce some of my favorite whole food ingredients which pack a nutritional punch. In an age where mass produced supplements are spruiked and sponsored by the latest insta influencer, I'm here to show you that good nutrition doesn't have to come from a processed packet and break the bank. With simple, affordable, whole food additions, you can still reap the nutritional benefits. Today is the humble inexpensive addition of flax seeds. They can be added t...o smoothies, salads, oats, dip toppers, made into crackers or blended into flax meal for baking. Flaxseeds are also known as linseeds in some supermarkets. They are a great healthy fat source, rich in omega 3's. They are high in fibre which research on flax seeds has shown to help balance cholesterol and lower blood pressure. The fibre also contributes to a healthy gut microbiome, feeding our beneficial bacteria. The fibre also helps keeps us satiated for longer and body glucose tolerance which can help protect from metabolic conditions like diabetes. Pretty incredible right. These little powerhouse seeds are cheap to purchase, a bag or organic flaxseed will only set you back about $6-8 and last for months. So give them a try to boost your health. Give me a in the comments if you'd like to learn about some more great wholefoods! . . . . . #realfood #plantbased #vegan #aligntribe #foodie #foodporn #nutritionist #nutrition #healthy #happy #strong #diet #goals #wellness #healthcoach #uplevel #vegetarian #food #nutritionistapproved #diabetes #cholesterol #omega3 #superfood #healthfood #health #healthhack #wholefoods #flaxseed #fibre See more

24.01.2022 Oats are like a big warm hug on a cold winter's morning. Oats are highly underrated, this humble little whole grain packs a punch when it comes to nutrition. DID YOU KNOW ?... Oats actively lower cholesterol as they contain beta-glucan which reduces LDL total cholesterol levels. Oats are packed with soluble fibre and are relatively high in protein compared with other grains. Oats fibre content can help to relieve constipation and also fill you up for longer which can assist in weight loss. Oats may help to lower blood sugar levels mainly due to the beta-glucan content. Oats are packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Oats are actually gluten free! However, they are often processed with machinery that also processes other grains containing gluten, like wheat rye and barley, so they cannot deem them gluten free on the packaging. You can source gluten free non contaminated oats just read the labels carefully. Oats are one of the most affordable easy to use #superfoods that can be made into a warming winter oatmeal with added seeds & fruits. Or can be added to smoothies, healthy baked treats, nutrient dense pancakes, oat mylk, granola and breads. So before dismissing them with terrible childhood memories of thick gluggy #oatmeal perhaps give them another try. My oats in this picture contained 3/4 c rolled oats, 1/2c organic soy milk, water as required, diced apple, wolfberries, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, cinnamon, lemon zest, topped with coconut yogurt. . . . . . #nutritionist #evidencebased #midnorthcoastnsw #nourish #nutrientdense #food #foodie #eatrealfood #wellness #health #fit #carbsarenttheenemy #weightloss #diet #nutrition #fitness #fitnessfriday #wholefood #foodfacts #nourishyourself #foodporn #recipe #fightdisease #healthyfood #plantbased #vegan #eatclean

13.01.2022 On meal prep Sunday I love to have a healthy dip in the fridge we can reach for when we need a nutritious snack with chopped veggies, crackers or to top on G.F bread. This one just involves roasting a tray of cubed pumpkin, sweet potato, onion, garlic with salt and pepper and spices of choice for about 30-40 mins until soft and caramelised. Allow to cool slightly, then blend together with 1T of tahini, juice of half a lemon 1T of EVOO, salt and pep to taste. I topped this ...with pepitas, sesame seeds, sumac and Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)..... enjoy! . . . . . . #nutritionistapproved #nutrition #nourish #foodie #healthgoals #healthcoach #healthysnack #snack #plantbased #vegan #diet #healthyrecipe #vegetarian #health #recipe #aligntribe #foodporn #platter #dip #mealprepsunday #hungry #mealprep #fit #fitness See more

01.01.2022 Well I wish I could say I have been on holiday.... not quite! In fact things are as hectic as ever, but in such a great way! I wanted to let you know things will be a little quieter around my socials for a while due to my studies! Yes, I have jumped head first into my Masters at University! This is so I can offer my clients only the best quality service, up to date information & knowledge in Nutrition and Exercise Science.... I am so passionate about the nutrition field that I'm up-leveling my knowledge and skill set and diving deep. Because of this I've had to adjust my workload and socials will be the first to suffer because all my focus is required for my studies and family life. I am still contactable via message and email, although I have had to temporarily cease client intake for now. I look forward to posting when I have some time with some of the exciting things I have learnt and I'll be back bigger and bolder than ever in the near future. Peace out Align Tribe .

01.01.2022 Fighting off the flu or just looking for ways to boost your immunity? Here's some top tips! The winter weather has just begun in the southern hemisphere, the nights and mornings are cool and the air is dry. The flu season has started early with a record number of cases being reported. One of the most beneficial ways to boost our immune system and fight the flu is with good nutrition. During this winter season, we want to nourish our body with food rich in Vitamin C, Zi...nc, B vitamins, anti inflammatory foods like fresh tumeric and ginger. Add loads of fresh garlic and onions in soups and stews, this also feeds our good Gut Bacteria. Incorporate alot of rainbow coloured veggies rich in anti oxidants, you are giving your body the ability to protect itself from colds and flus. I highly recommend enjoying the abundance of citrus that is now in season to boost your vitamin C intake, also think dark green leafy vegetables for zinc, or for the meat eaters some good quality organic red meat which also provides zinc, haem iron & B Vitamins. If you are suffering from the flu, get plenty of rest, increase your fluid intake, warm tea, make a pot of veggie soup or a curry & please stay home to stop the spread of germs.... it's the one things we should never share My favorite tea during times I'm feeling unwell is The juice of one lemon, 1 T Honey, 2cm knob of sliced ginger & 1cm knob of fresh tumeric (or 1/2 t tumeric powder). Fill the teapot allow to steep for 10 minutes and drink the whole pot. It's lovely to drink cool too. Here's to a healthy winter season! . . . . . #Flu #flufighting #nourish #immunity #tea #VitaminC #antiinflammatory #fit #inflammation #nutrionist #food #diet #fitfam #exercise #wellness #winterwellness #foodie #coldandflu #fluseason #nutritionistapproved #health #realfood #guthealth See more
