25.01.2022 Some of the students from my puppy class having a break after training. These two were wonderfully polite, and a great example of back-and-forth play and bite inhibition for the observers!

25.01.2022 If you havent seen me around much, its because Ive been busy running around organising APDT stalls! Last weekend was the Pet Professionals Guild conference, and Im on my feet all day this weekend for the Sydney Dog Lovers Show. Come say hi if youre in the area!

25.01.2022 Look at this cutie! Monty was super shy when he signed up for my puppy class in Centennial Park, and now hes a social butterfly. Im so proud of him and his owners

21.01.2022 Target training is such a useful trick to get your pet to go to a specific location without fear or pressure. Keep an eye out for the clicker training done with this little parrot for science! Does your pet know how to target yet?

21.01.2022 Most dogs get stressed out by hugs, so its very important to do a CONSENT TEST. I can tell this greyhound loves hugs, because if I step away he leans in for more!

20.01.2022 I finally got around to watching this Catalyst episode, and now I think I need to make it mandatory viewing for all my students! Such an excellent intro to dog behaviour. (And shout-out to my old prof Paul McGreevy)

20.01.2022 Walked around the Dog Lovers Show and picked up two more Dogs Life magazines with my article contributions! Pick up the May/June 2017 issue for my fetch training tips, or Jul/Aug 2017 for brain stimulation games.

18.01.2022 So precious! And a much better way of teaching a dog to beg for food than barking or whining at you!

17.01.2022 End of day one of Chicken Training Camp with Geraldine from Paws2play - Training as my training partner. I already love Margot the hen and want to take her home

17.01.2022 Im on my third day of the APDT Australia 2016 conference. There have been some great speakers so far, particularly on fearful and reactive dogs! #apdtozconf16

16.01.2022 Want to know if your dog is in a really playful mood? Just keep an eye out for that play bow!

10.01.2022 Heres a quick, cheap way to keep your dog mentally stimulated - use a muffin tray! Level one: put dry food or treats in some of the cups. Level two: cover them up with balls and small toys. Every cup is a different challenge.

09.01.2022 And heres part two of the Catalyst dog learning show. I would love to see all pet owners be as excited about life coaching as the owners in this show.

08.01.2022 I wrote some good tricks to teach an older dog for this article! See more of my tips in the Sep/Oct 2016 issue of Dogs Life.

08.01.2022 My list of things every dog should know was published in Nov/Dec 2016 Dogs Life Magazine! If your dog is struggling with Fido fundamentals, book a private training session with me for the New Year.

08.01.2022 Today was a perfect morning for a puppy class! We had a chance to talk about toys and enrichment - did you know you can use a muffin tray to give your dog a brain workout?

07.01.2022 We had a dingo cross sign up for puppy classes yesterday at Eastern Suburbs Dog Training Club in Centennial Park! This is Indie, formerly of Sydney Fox Rescue.

05.01.2022 Dont forget to keep your pets cool on days like this!

05.01.2022 Is anyone using dog poo bags that claim to be flushable? You might want to rethink that to save your pipes! Ive used polyvinyl alcohol in the lab and can confirm that it takes forever to dissolve unless you stir it into near-boiling water.

03.01.2022 I have definitely met dogs like this

03.01.2022 Started teaching a new puppy class at Eastern Suburbs Dog Training Club yesterday! Here Django the border collie is showing some uncertainty through body language - leaning away, closed mouth, looking sideways with whites of eyes showing. But as soon as Harley backed off, Django jumped into playing with him.

02.01.2022 Meeting a cute dingo today at a training camp! Weve been talking about how hard these guys are to keep as pets - you really need to have zoo-quality fences and be mindful of their instincts compared to domestic dogs.

01.01.2022 When you watched the Melbourne Cup today, did you notice the horses being whipped? The research actually shows that inflicting pain has no benefits in animal motivation.
