22.01.2022 Individual Tax Rates 20/21

21.01.2022 If you have chosen to DIY JobKeeper please make sure you understand and have applied the rules correctly - there is proviso for having to pay back if claimed and not entitled! Also.... the rules are being updated constantly - just last night another update went through where previously anyone 16 + met all the eligibility criteria was OK to be put through job keeper by their employer, as of last night the rules changed and now if you are under 18 you must be 'financially inde...pendant.' Realistically a fair change, as kids earning $100 on a weekend job receiving $750 a week was always a bit far fetched HOWEVER under the old rules you had to include them. Now, businesses will be reimbursed for those they have paid already, under the old rule interpretation but going forward, cannot include these employees in jobkeeper. The 'alternate' rules were also released Thursday for business that are new in this financial year, have 'lumpy' turnover or other unusual circumstances where they don't fit the mold for the 'basic test'. Please make sure you do read through these new rules if you think they may now apply to you. Thanks Alisha

20.01.2022 Something to be mindful of if booking in too early, even though everything now goes straight through to the ATO your employer does not have to finalise your tax summary until 14-31 July. https://www.accountantsdaily.com.au//14502-tax-time-2020-a
