21.01.2022 It only took 5 months to get there but finally a happy US customer receives their order! Order was caught up in Covid19 postal restrictions and cessation of flights. We watched it through online tracking sitting safely in a locked bag here in Australia ready to go but going nowhere. Until suddenly it did! 18.01.2022 Encountered in the course of my day and too beautiful not to record. Snail Parasite Blowfly... a bright orange yellow head with brownish eyes. The body is metallic green and blue with white spots. Other Names: Blowfly, Bluebottle Size:... 12mm Habitat: Woodland, forest, gardens. Often seen feeding on flowers of native plants. Food: feeds on nectar Breeding: The common name suggests that it lays eggs on snails and the maggots are parasitic. (Most species of blowflies lay their eggs on carrion or dung, but some species lay their eggs on living animals.) #nativefly #australianinsects

14.01.2022 If you have little people to buy presents for and needing to online shop, I can totally recommend this wonderful publication by a talented Mallacoota local. She and her team comb the beaches and inlet on bikes and kyaks collecting plastics and rubbish to keep Mallacoota's precious wilderness as free from our detritus as possible. A post I read recently stated dismally 'We are the virus!' If that is so, then these folks are the mighty antidote fighting back! Bless 'em!

04.01.2022 I call this one Cicada Flower. I have to move really fast when printing gold because it's unforgiving! Tends to dry in the small detail very fast. If i pick a humid day the chances of 100% success are good. It's raining today. Perfect. But still had to gun it! Took pic at the end once all printing finished and screen flooded with water. Phew! 02.01.2022 Workshop cleaning time!!! Traditionally spend January restoring order after busiest time of the year subsides. In the Hunter Valley days it was so hot in January I couldn't print so my machinist and I used to have a well-earned break. Not the case in Mallacoota where the temps are mild enough to print all rear round. Bliss! But it's good to have time out before the new work year begins.
