25.01.2022 Heres a quick and easy job I did at the start of the week for a lovely lady. Old carpet pulled up and replaced with some Laminate flooring.
24.01.2022 Nice View for work today but its a bit hot.
22.01.2022 What a better way to spend the second day of summer than installing 160 square meters of Earth Wool insulation in a roof cavity. Thankfully it was a lot cooler yesterday than normal lol. There are a few benefits to installing insulation. It helps keep the house warm in winter, it helps keep the house cool in summer and decrease the electricity consumption of the house hold. The downside of installing insulation in a roof cavity is installing the bloody stuff
22.01.2022 An other little job I did this week. Laying pavers for some wheelie bins to sit on. I ended up having to dig out a lot more soil than I was expecting.
22.01.2022 Its a horrible disgusting job but a very important one especially here in Bathurst. Keeping your gutters clean. Its amazing the amount of damage a leaking gutter can cause to a building over a short period of time.
21.01.2022 If you ever need to get ride of Mold, grease or any other unpleasantness off your walls or ceiling and you dont want to spend hours scrubbing use 30 seconds. Its great stuff but I recommend you dont get it on your skin in your eyes or breath the vaporous and open all your windows
21.01.2022 Nothing beats a day of beating up some lead flashings
20.01.2022 An other Possum at work today. Poor thing didnt look like it was doing so well so I gave it my Apple and left it alone. Hopefully its not there tomorrow
20.01.2022 TFI Friday what a week me and Matt have had. The old sewer junction been replace, storm water pit in and hooked up, colourbond fencing up, concrete strip has been poured to lay pavers up to and to help direct the storm water to the pit, all the soft spots of soil have been dug up and last but not least we have started the painful process of back filling the site with granite and compacting it layers by layer. We still have many more layers to go.
19.01.2022 I totally forgot about this little job we did a few months ago. Vinyl tiles are easily to lay and are a quick way of changing the look of a room.
19.01.2022 Update on the old concrete shed. 4 skip bins later the walls are down with no damage to the next door neighbours shed, half the concrete floor is ripped up and we are just waiting on bin number 5. We found the reason why the shed was subsiding. The old terracotta sewer junction from the property sewer pipe to the council sewer mains is damaged and has probably been leaking for years. Unfortunately its not the council responsibility to fix this part so the plumber coming in on Monday to replace the junction
19.01.2022 Heres a little patch are repair job I did down in Wolli Creek at the weekend. Unfortunately when you damage a wall and have to fix it its always recommend you paint the entire wall that has been damaged not just the bit thats damaged.
18.01.2022 A nice little tiling job and installation of a Merbau floating shelve we did last week for a very nice couple last week.
17.01.2022 So I have been working just out of town at a lovely property in Paling Yards. Unfortunately the cottage on the property had been infested by Termites. Heres a great example of Termite damaged timbers. It takes the little bugs a wile to eat out a house but they really can do some damage
15.01.2022 Heres another sagging ceiling we replaced. New timbers, ceiling sheets and cornicing
14.01.2022 This is not my job but Ill be fixing it. I did not install the fireplace, chimney and flashing. In all the years I have been working on roofs this would have to be the worst flashings I have ever seen.
14.01.2022 Pointing update it’s a slow dusty proses but the cement needs to come out and the lime mortar put back in. Also big thumbs up to the person who uses silicon for pointing
13.01.2022 Cottage update the poop should be flowing perfectly now. That’s 80m worth of new pipe and a new grease track installed.
12.01.2022 Heres a 4x9 Spotted Gum deck we did at the start of the week. I will admit that Matt did a lot more work on this deck than myself. I was melting on a roof instead lol
11.01.2022 So the cottage is coming along nicely. The front Veranda now a bedroom. New flooring has been laid over the very uneven concrete slab. Walls are up and flashing have been installed. Ill post more pictures in the next couple of days.
10.01.2022 So we took all that dirt out and put back in? 4 cubic meters of crushed granite, 2 cubic metres of blue metal dust and 2 cubic metres of sand. Its all been compacted and pavers are being laid. Its official my bodys killing me lol.
10.01.2022 It looks great but this is why you shouldnt let plants grow over buildings. We replaced the rotten round support beam with 2 LVL.
10.01.2022 Unfortunately this old shed has seen better days. So time for it to come down very carefully. We dont want to go damaging the next door neighbours shed. A hardwood Pergola, 3m by 3m garden shed and brand new pavers will go in its place.
10.01.2022 Cottage update the poop should be flowing perfectly now. Thats 80m worth of new pipe and a new grease track installed.
09.01.2022 Heres a little job I did last week. Tv cabinet made from a Tasmania Oak slab and recycled timbers. It turned out looking really good and I cant wait to see it varnished
09.01.2022 It took Matt and myself less than 8 hours to install a wall and sliding cavity door. It would have been quicker if we didnt come across the burst water pipe.
09.01.2022 Here an other update on the cottage. She has external Cladding not done by myself but a local company Nu-clad. They done a pretty good job her and now she actually looks like a house. Well form the outside anyway
09.01.2022 More pictures of the work I have been up to at the Cottage. The right Gable End of the cottage. I sheeted it with marine ply, sarking paper, window in and flashing on. I also had to replace a bottom plate around the en-suite because of wood decay and powder post Beatles. There will be plenty more pictures of the cottage coming
08.01.2022 Heres some more pictures of the cottage more windows in more sarking paper on and a wall take down. Ohh yeah and a wee Bat
07.01.2022 Update on the cottage. Its pretty much almost wind and water tight I just need to put the front door on. It wont be long till the cladding goes on
07.01.2022 A definite must for todays job.
06.01.2022 Update on the cottage. So I found more termite damage timbers in a wall so that had to be replaced. The ruff in for the internal plumbing has been done, door jams are in and a section of the old roof has been replaced.
06.01.2022 Whoops Not every day you pull a bit of skirting board off the wall and water starts pissing out the wall. Over 30 years that nail been in that copper pipe and we are the ones that pull it out
04.01.2022 Ok then so PVC Storm Water Pipe is not and I will repeat is NOT supposed to be used as Sewerage pipe. Also any water pipes be it storm water, sewerage or a water service isnt supposed to be just buried under the ground with a small amount of dirt covering it. Thats 80m of storm water pipe from the cottage to its septic tank that now needs to be replaced. With 100mm sewer pipe and will be a minimum of 400mm coverage.
04.01.2022 Pointing update its a slow dusty proses but the cement needs to come out and the lime mortar put back in. Also big thumbs up to the person who uses silicon for pointing
03.01.2022 Next week job. Fixing someone else dodgy pointing work. This is a great example of why you dont repoint old buildings built with lime mortar with cement. Lime mortar will expand and contract depending on weather conditions. Cement dose not this means the cement will damage the old brick (brick fretting) or eventually falls out like it has in the pictures.
01.01.2022 Chimney is repaired and no leaks.
01.01.2022 Solar Panels are supposed to be self cleaning but its recommended to clean then once a year with hot soapy water. These panels havent been cleaned in 20 years.
01.01.2022 It’s a horrible disgusting job but a very important one especially here in Bathurst. Keeping your gutters clean. It’s amazing the amount of damage a leaking gutter can cause to a building over a short period of time.
