05.01.2022 Personality science provides a series of frameworks to help us begin to understand ourselves and others The breadth of these theories is interesting to consider and sheds light on how mysterious we all really are. There is such variety in the theories when it comes to describing our core motivations and our behaviour. Despite this variation, many aspects of these theories are insightful, and engaging with them helps provide us with the vocabulary we need to unpack our inner world. Which theory resonates with you the most?

02.01.2022 Spring has sprung

02.01.2022 Our core articles all follow the same structure. The way they are written has been designed to optimise the impact they have on our experience of life. Firstly, we ignite curiosity by introducing a bold idea. Secondly, we provide the evidence that backs it up and explore research that gives the topic depth.... Thirdly, we give you the practical tools, habits and daily practices that help us to capitalise on this new information and create real, positive change in how we think, feel and act. Finally, we highlight how our experience will change as we start to incorporate and embody this new understanding in our lives. Everyone’s homework this week is to choose an article you like from our three article pages (live well, live mind or live wise) and select a new habit or change to make part of your week. Knowledge only becomes wisdom when it’s present in our actions- that’s our goal here See more

02.01.2022 A sneak peak at our article coming later this week on the topic of self-knowledge In this article we will unpack this complex topic by exploring why self awareness is often so illusive and by analysing practical ways to improve our own self knowledge. The Johari window model, also known as the feedback/disclosure model, is one of many practical tools we will talk through.... This model accurately depicts how self knowledge isn’t just a matter of me, myself and I. The people around us play an important part in how we develop our sense of identity. The model shows how vulnerable, honest, two way conversation with others can increase our open area and illuminate hidden aspects of ourselves We are so excited to release this one, a favourite topic of ours and one that is absolutely crucial to consider throughout life! 01.01.2022 Malcom Gladwell’s Talking to Strangers Gladwell's talking to strangers is an exploration of why we must humble ourselves and remain open minded when dealing other people. He doesn't just tell us about how our limited perspective can mislead us when interacting with new people, he shows us this experientially. This book walks you through a series of short stories that challenge our social instincts and cognitive biases. By presenting the many shades of grey that exist within both complex and mundane interpersonal interactions, Gladwell forces us to adopt a more careful and considered approach to dealing with others. What are you reading currently and what’s a book that’s changed the way you look at the world?

01.01.2022 Quick run down of our latest blog

01.01.2022 Our new article is out now! Self Knowledge 101 This one is packed with info that helps you understand this complex subject at a deeper level. We dedicated most of our effort in writing this to providing practical tools that help us enhance our own self knowledge.... Here’s a short snippet from the post and the link to the full read is below Who am I? This is perhaps one of the most important questions we can ask ourselves. Self-knowledge and self-awareness are concepts that have been present within the minds of all great philosophers for thousands of years. But like so many significant ideas, we fear it has been lost in our modern culture. Fortunately, we can start the journey towards self-awareness at any time and the rewards are rich no matter where or when we begin. In this post we will explore why obtaining self-knowledge is so difficult, why it is necessary, and how we can side step our blind spots to shine a light on our true selves. Go check it out on our philosophy page- live wise: https://www.alivesydney.com/post/self-knowledge-101 See more
