22.01.2022 Just a friendly reminder to keep an eye out on the waters edge. This beautiful stone fish (possibly a 'Bearded Ghoul', equally toxic) was seen chilling out down... at Canoe Point just now. Clever camouflage colouring makes her look like a bunch of washed up mangrove leaves If you see a hazard on the beach, please let the Life Guards/Life Savers know - they are patrolling on the Main Beach every day over the school holidays. The safest place to swim is between the flags Photo credit: Blaise N Amanda Ramsay

17.01.2022 I run Anita's Angels by myself so it is me that does everything so as you can imagine I am always busy. There is the cats to clean up after and to feed and chan...ge their water bowls everyday. The paperwork and computer work needs regular attention. Then there is the cleaning of 20 litter trays, worm and flea treatments, vet visits, brushing the cats, clipping their claws and the shopping of the endless food and litter that I need. Now on top of all this we are moving so we need to sort out the move with real estates, tidy the garden, paint the house and sell some of the furniture and most importantly I need to find loving homes for my cats before I move. I am doing the best that I can with the little time that I have. I access facebook through my desk top computer and can not be on it all day as there is just to much to do. The best form of contact is by phone and please leave a message and I will get back to asap if I am not home. This is also why I need help with people sharing my posts to broaden the circle of people seeing my posts about moving and needing to adopt my cats out. The personality of the cats is always much more important that the looks of a cat and you need a cat that suits your lifestyle. The best way to choose a cat is by meeting them to see if you connect with them. So if you are interested in adopting an adult cat from Anita's Angels please call 49737293 and we can start the process of finding you a furry little feline that you can share your life with. Thank you.

16.01.2022 Please help Anita out

16.01.2022 TEMPERATURES ARE SET TO SOAR With temperatures set to soar, we need to remember that our pets feel the heat just like we do, some of them even more so! H...ere are our tips to try and keep them cool!!! We would also recommend NOT exercising your pets during the day, and if you have to remember that road surfaces can still be hot! So always check first.

05.01.2022 ****EDIT**** NEW INFO IN COMMENTS After advice/help please I have a male cat who is 6 that I may need to rehome. This isn't an easy decision. My son and Chevy have a special bond. He has always been a bit picky with who he likes and a bit like jekyl and Hyde but is very affectionate and unique also. I feel that we have exhausted all options. At the moment we are trying feliway and crossing fingers it helps but if it doesn't we will have no choice other then to rehome Ch...evy. For about a year now we have been trying different things but no luck. He attacks my other 2 cats not constantly every day but it is for no reason at all. He attacks my puppy and growls and carry ons with him. He is good with our Mini foxy when she comes inside but she is an outside dog. As can see in photos he can be sweet with my other 2 cats so not opposed to trying him in a house with another cat and maybe an outside dog. I have a newborn so I'm worried he is going to hurt him if in a mood. He is doing certain things around baby that make me really nervous. If he is rehomed it will have to be to a home that has older kids no babies as I just don't know if he can be trusted. He may just be being curious or crying may upset him I don't know. He would suit a home that has outside animals preferably and he would need to be inside cat or access to cat pen and inside as that's all he has ever known. Will see how go with this feliway for now but just looking at options. I've had him since he was 5 weeks old :( Edit (Update) : After discussing with our vet we have decided against doing behavioural infections. We have been using the feliway. There has been no change. This morning he launched up at my baby while he was crying and I was about to feed him. I'm so anxious about when he will crawl, play on floor etc. I've decided I'm going to have to start looking for a new home for him. He is an inside only cat with access to cat pen from our lounge room. We have tried locking him out in enclosure but he gets stressed and quite vocal. This decision is definitely not being taken lightly. It's going to break my older sons heart so I'm very hesitant. He needs to go to a home where it's "quiter" preferably be an only animal and no young children. This has areas of leniency which can be discussed. I've been trying to sort these issues for a very long time now and feel it's just getting worse and i can't have my children being at risk especially the baby cause I'd never forgive myself if He hurt him :( Please if you or anyone you know can provide Chevy with a loving home let me know

04.01.2022 DON'T FEED YOUR DOG XMAS HAM The Animal Referral & Emergency Centre has a timely reminder to all pet owners - DO NOT give your pet dog or cat any of your Chri...stmas ham. "Christmas ham and ham bones are a huge no no. The fat and salt content of this delicious Christmas treat will wreak havoc on the gastrointestinal system of our beloved fury family members," they said. "Christmas ham isn’t the only culprit that can cause our pets illness over the festive season. "Often our pets will have increased access to chocolate, grapes, nuts and fruit cake, which are all capable of causing serious and sometimes life threatening illness." This poor dog picture is Gordie - last year he ate an ENTIRE 2.2KG Christmas ham. His owners brought him into the vet for help. Animal Referral & Emergency Centre.

03.01.2022 Omg this is so awful :(

01.01.2022 There are some reports of Baxter's (Woolworths brand) pet food causing serious health issues in dogs. Pet Food Reviews - Australia has heard in excess of 50 rep...orts of dogs becoming sick after eating Baxters. This is fairly serious given that many people may not relate their pets health issues to the food they are eating. From what we have read most complaints included vomiting, diarrhoea, bleeding, seizures, coughing, lethargy, drinking excessively, difficulties standing/walking and being generally unwell. There have also been some comments indicating that dogs have suffered strokes and puppies have passed away, but these have not been substantiated by veterinary reports. It is important when selecting what diet you place your pets on, that it is balanced and of good quality. The very cheap supermarket and warehouse pet foods, often have very little nutritional value and can cause serious health issues long term. In the long run this can cost more in veterinary bills, than starting off and continuing a nutritious diet to begin with. In our experience home made meals with fresh ingredients is the cheapest option of providing a balanced and healthy diet for your pet. For those people who feel they don't have time to make their pet's food, we suggest researching brands which provide good quality pre-packaged food through pet stores. Buying the premium brands in bulk while on sale, can end up being cheaper than purchasing cheap brands at full price. For more information Baxter brand, please follow the link: http://www.petfoodreviews.com.au/dry-dog-food/baxters/
