With the spec mix 500. Golden trowel and the world skills tournaments it really gives the trades a chance to shine and show what they are really capable of. These days a lot of work is residential and very straight forward. No chimneys the only bond commonly used is half bond. And double bead, single be...ad. Weather struck jointing are a thing of the past. I remember competing in world skills and absolutely loved it. I got second for the state and thrived at been given the chance of a very technical build. Even better the person who just beat me got second for australia. Ive always pushed myself to try and learn whatever i can in regards to my industry and even When i was a second year apprentice in our arch section i challenged myself ( against all advice ) to tackle an arabian arch with a double bead,red oxide joint. Possibly one of my favourite builds through my time. To all the other young aspiring bricklayers my advice is , - always push yourself. Sometimes it will get to you take a breathe and try again. -To start with focus on quailty, speed will come. -You can build anything. Dont ever doubt yourself, do your research and take your time. -buy good quality tools. ( especially trowels) Treat them right and they will last for a long time. - keep at it you will have the trade for life.

09.01.2022 Where once was a small window now is a door. Starting off With the removal of the brickwork around the small window leaving enough room for the new door installation. We came back in and cleaned the bricks we removed, cut to suit bond and rebuilt the wall with color matched oxided mortar Leaving the owners with an easy accessible front doorway once stairway is installed.
