24.01.2022 WELCOME TO THE NEW YEAR ALL. Thought we'd share with you a meditation on maps by a cartographer

23.01.2022 A new glamping experience is now available at Cairns, QLD. Sunlover by Starlight - This is an overnight reef stay available at Moore Reef Pontoon on the Great Barrier Reef, 26 nautical miles off the coast of Cairns. Up to 18 people can stay overnight to get exclusive access to Moore Reef from 3.30pm on day one until 11am on day two when the Sunlover vessel returns. You can feel at home in the heart of the ocean, hearing the sounds of sea birds & nocturnal creatures coming to life, all the while basking in the sea air & warmth of Tropical North Queensland. Now that's a holiday! http://www.sunlover.com.au//sunlover-by-starlight-paradi/

Have a Happy Easter everyone. The image below is of the Grose River where it enters the Hawkesbury River, taken in 2002. Hope the place you'll be over Easter is as pretty. 18.01.2022 Discovered on The Botanists' Way website [http://thebotanistsway.com.au/ ] : The Botanists Way between Windsor and Lithgow is the ONLY place in the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area where 3 of the 4 types of landscapes in the Area meet - Narrabeen sandstone, Hawkesbury sandstone and shales around Bilpin. The Botanists Way is part of the Greater Blue Mountains Drive. The images below are in & near Richmond along The Botanists Way (courtesy of Diedre Morrison) [http://www.thebotanistsway.com.au/greater-blue-mountains-d/ ]. See the information hoardings at the Hawkesbury Visitors Information Centre too at Ham Common, Clarendon.

15.01.2022 If you're meandering in Richmond, here's 2 things you may find useful - a list of Antique, Vintage & Homeware businesses, & a list of businesses at the West End of Windsor St, Richmond that are unique (or almost) to the whole of the Hawkesbury. Just click on each image to read it and/or print it out.

13.01.2022 Now the weather is warming up, we can cook with solar power. We sell a solar cooker that dehydrates food as well, & folds up into a poster size too! It's called the Sunflair cooker - visit www.ebrightenergy.com.au for more information.

12.01.2022 We like this - practising camping for the summer holidays by doing this, especially for newbies to camping. Just need the wine and chocolate to eat around the camp fire at night.

11.01.2022 MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE - We're having our last day of trade on Thursday 24 December, closing at 1.00 p.m.; and will again be open for business on Monday 4 January 2016. Hours next year remain the same as this year: Mon-Fri 8.30am - 5.30pm; Thurs 8.30pm - 6pm; Sat 8.30am-2pm.

11.01.2022 This image shows some of the items we have on special at present - small hand torches, tiny key chain torches & others. The items that have reduced prices all have their prices marked in RED and are scattered throughout the store - come on in and surprise yourself what is available ON SPECIAL at All Camping Richmond.

10.01.2022 See this page for our new web presence - http://www.hawkesburyaustralia.com.au//all-camping-richm/ @ http://www.hawkesburyaustralia.com.au/ This complements our website and features different products we sell - like the Beefeater BUGG. Visit this link to see what a handy BBQ it is - even if it is ORANGE! http://shop.allcamping.com.au///2D24/83D2/amber_bugg_s.jpg

10.01.2022 A new item is for sale - a tiny foldable stool that folds flat & has its own bag for storage yet holds up to 80kgms. It measures no more than 15cms wide x 20cms high when it's in its bag. It comes from Oztrail. See http://oztrail.com.au//furnit/chairs/easy-stool-by-oztrail for more information.

10.01.2022 Folks, the weather's warming up so watch out for spiders, mozzies, leeches, snakes and other bities that abound particularly in warm weather. Consider carrying a first aid kit, good insect repellant and snake bite bandages when hiking or camping. Remember, first aid kits don't use themselves, consider doing a first aid course.

09.01.2022 Well, now that we've discovered that the ebrightenergy site in no longer operating - see our website for images of the cooker. www.allcamping.com.au

09.01.2022 Ozpig News - Char grill & driptrays will become available later this year, September we hope. See the Ozpig site for availability of other addons. The new Big Boar camp oven should be available in September too. It's a 7 litre camp oven with better insulation than other camp ovens, so cooks more efficiently. The lid lip is specially machined to provide a perfect seal when cooking and it can cope with hard knocks - like being dropped. See ozpig.com.au for some great images.

08.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS to 1st Glossodia Venturers on the success of their recent fund raising dinner, raising $3,500 towards their trip to Kungsleden, Sweden in July 2018. BEST WISHES in raising the rest of the funds needed to go there.

05.01.2022 Ravensworth State Forest despite being just 20 kilometres from Singleton, visitors to Ravensworth are almost as rare as the threatened species such as the spotted-tailed quoll that are known to inhabit the forest. Prospective visitors need to apply for a permit from the Forestry Corporation and Glencore, the Swiss-based mining giant that owns the land surrounding the woodlands as part of its Mt Owen open-cut coal mine. Glencore has applied to expand its Mt Owen mine, detail...s of which are on public exhibition until March 6. The company is seeking approval for a "total disturbance area" of 485 hectares, including clearing 217.7 hectares of woodland near the state forest. This will result in the removal of 17 per cent of one of the last few significant areas of remnant vegetation on the central Hunter Valley, and a wildlife corridor between the woodland and the Main Creek waterway to the south will be narrowed by about two-thirds. SUCH IS THE ATTITUDE OF STATE & FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO OUR NATURAL HERITAGE. See http://www.smh.com.au//state-forest-out-of-publics-domain- for more information. See more

03.01.2022 Not only do we sell compasses, we back it up with the ultimate service - a basic introduction to map reading using a compass, for those who have no idea about it all. See also compassdude.com amongst many others to learn it from the 'net. Alternatively, do Duke of Edinburgh hiking at high school or join Scouts/Guides or similar to learn this skill. See also lotsoffreshair or visit https://six.nsw.gov.au/ for help in doing this.

02.01.2022 PLEASE NOTE Richmond Camping Supplies will be closing early on Saturday 2 July at 12 noon. Sorry for any inconvenience. (Were going camping!)

02.01.2022 See this for the experience of living outdoors full-time - https://vimeo.com/129335481 The Cinder Cone from Farm League on Vimeo : At the top of an increasingly steep staircase was a platform made of red cedar. Opening the door of the Studio, Huntington noted that both tree houses have wood stoves, allowing him to stay hunkered in, even during the Pacific Northwest's cold, stormy nights. Inside, the space was toasty and light-filled, decorated in a cabin-y version of Young B...achelor. A shelf by the door held Huntington's cameras and lenses; his iMac sat on a simple desk against one wall, a surfboard propped next to it. Large windows looked straight into green-needled limbs. Huntington regards the Studio as his workspace and the Octagon as his bedroom; he regards the small house his mother built, 100 feet away, as a source of electricity and plumbing. To get to the upper treehouse, he raced across a kind of ladder lying almost flat across the sky to another tree that supported yet another platform. From there he dashed across the swinging rope bridge to the Octagon's door. The perch afforded him an expansive view of the valley, creating the awesome sensation of being not 35 feet off the ground but 1,000 feet up. When a strong wind whips across the Cinder Cone, as it would that night, the whole structure - bridge and tree and treehouse - sways and creaks.

02.01.2022 NEW PRODUCT - THE WEDGE from SLOTMEIN. It's an all-rounder - fire pit, BBQ, spit and grill, a complete multiuse "FLAT PACK" fire pit. Now selling @ All Camping Richmond in Windsor St. See The Wedge from slotmein.com.au @ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Of071D5ULuM

02.01.2022 FYI - QLD government is no longer producing topographic maps.

01.01.2022 Has anyone seen the latest GREAT WALKS magazine, April/May 2015? It has an excellent description of a walk down the Grose Valley near the Grose River with the canyon deepening as you walk down it. There are a few ways of leaving the canyon and they chose the Grand Canyon track to do so, although it is possible to follow the river all the way to its junction with the Hawkesbury River, "an epic 75km descent first achieved in 1916 over 4 days". See www.greatwalks.com.au for more information.

01.01.2022 REMEMBER - for each swag sold at All Camping Richmond, $5 goes toward Swags for the Homeless for their HOMELESS BACKPACK BEDS which are sent to local Richmond homeless help organisations. Each bed costs $85 and they need to be ordered in batches of 8, so if you need a swag, come to us & help a homeless person keep warm this winter. See http://swags.org.au/

01.01.2022 GRAND CANYON WALK in the Blue Mountains will be CLOSED for some months - The Grand Canyon walking track will be closed from Wednesday 14 October 2015 to mid-June 2016. The closure is necessary to allow work to continue on improving the walking track. Access for canyoners will be on weekends only. Access from Evans Lookout via Beauchamp Falls to the Grose Valley will remain open. Evans Lookout carpark, Loop carpark, and Neates Glen carpark will remain open. For more information, please contact NPWS Blue Mountains Heritage Centre on (02) 47878877 or visit the NSW National Parks safety page for park safety guidelines. http://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/alerts/Alerts-list
