23.01.2022 A wedding cake with Islamic geometry and water lilies - I made this wedding cake design for myself for fun (I sometimes make dummy cakes like that for wedding s...hows to show to potential clients but also for myself as it is also my hobby) - it has been a project a few years in the making! The idea of this cake has been at the back of my mind for a long time, I wanted to make something original, but at the same time authentic, ideally all by hand/free hand without set cutters and with the simplest of tools. I had a few tries but I did not really know how to do this until last year, when by coincidence, I discovered Samira Mian on youtube (Samira Mian Islamic Geometry). I went on a course with her in February (just before covid kicked in) and fell in love with Islamic geometry. It took all this time since Feb to decide on the pattern for the cake, draw them all by hand, decide how to apply it to the cake, decide on the colours and finally the sugar flowers - it has been a huge effort but a real labour of love and I learned so much from the constant trial and error.
