25.01.2022 The importance of trees

24.01.2022 What a great idea

20.01.2022 Well, there you go :)

10.01.2022 Soft plastics refresher! NB: This post of shareable. Tap the words ‘feeling energised’ and share from there. With 1500 shares so far, good chance we will each ...learn one new thing! Step 1 - Most of us know that #softplastics goes into those #redcycle bins outside #Woolworths + #Coles. In 2020, REDcycle recovered almost 2 million soft plastic pieces across Australia daily. There is actually quite a bit that can go in there! Generally, if it is scrunchable, it is #softplastic. Deliver it as clean and dry as possible. Here is a complete list: https://www.redcycle.net.au/what-to-redcycle/ It helps to keep a box/bag/bucket somewhere which is designated for soft plastics. Once the box is full of soft plastics, pop it in the back of car, or right next to the front door. That way we remember to take in on the next trip to Woolworths/Coles to pop in the #redcycle bin. Oh, and a little thing I do is I post pictures of our shrinking red bin to my wider FB clan once in awhile. Because no one really believes how much this one habit reduces it until they see a picture! And once we see our red bin shrinking, it creates an energy of its own! Avoiding excess packaging is the ideal. As much as we can, we should minimise packaging. We produce 10kg of rubbish for every single Australian, every single week. So have a few reusable pouches+ bags with you. But the reality is we will always have to deal with some plastic, and as many of us knowing what is a soft plastic is important. What CANNOT be REDcycled: - Adhesive tape - Christmas tinsel and trees - Foam or polystyrene packing (including the thin foam sheets often found around items) but can be increasingly dropped off at places by checking here (https://recyclingnearyou.com.au) + here (http://epsa.org.au/where-can-i-recycle-eps/) - Laminated materials and transparencies - Plastic/clear vinyl packaging often around sheets and doonas - PVC blow up pools and pool toys (or any blow up toys) which can go to #ploysdesign - Plastic strapping used to secure boxes - Straws - Wrapping paper and cardboard, ribbons or bows Step 2. AND this is really important! We Australians (councils, schools, clubs, associations, businesses, individuals) need to support recycled products by committing to a % of our 2021 budget spend on products made from recycled materials. The only way this works is if we buy recycled products made from the goods we recycle. Here is a template to talk to your local councils about buying less virgin material and more recycled products: https://www.facebook.com/samantha.pereirasachdev/posts/10222735705237101 So let’s un-plastic our Australian landfills and Australian waterways together. #australianrecyclingtip #SustainableAustralia
