19.01.2022 Our Hamish knows how to shift gear! Great day with the CUOs from Newington Cadets. Great bunch of fellas gearing up for their camp in a few weeks!

17.01.2022 Its been a massive week for All Aid with our trainers working as Mentor Medics with the The Kings School Cadet Corps. Its a huge job, combining training platoons by immersing them in an epic mass casualty scenario featuring a busted car, arterial bleeds, fractures, spinals, asthma attacks and anything else we can think of while giving them the opportunity to learn some real first aid skills and practice some leadership in the field. Outside of the training, our staff mentor... the boys in medics platoon and triage a bit as streams of cadets come through the First Aid tent with injuries ranging from blisters and cuts right through to strains, sprains, potential fractures, rashes and allergies. We need to give a massive shout out, huge thankyous and all round cheers to these legends: Tash Beauchamp, Govinda Rser, Lisa Madsen and Kat Woodward were just exceptional, dynamic and engaging in their training, cool headed under pressure and really knew their stuff when the going got tough. I guess Patrick Cullen chipped in a bit too! Thankyou also The Kings School, Parramatta staff for having us to their AFX and for being such great hosts. Finally, great work to the boys on camp, they rose to the challenges presented really well and were a pleasure to work with. Special shoutouts to the Medics in the RAP - Kevin, Will, Luis and Charlie who worked tirelessly to help out not only our staff and the school nurses but each and every person who came through the medics tent. Great stuff everyone. Love your work. Im off for a long hot shower and a lie down. PC

14.01.2022 FIRST AID UPDATE - Heat Injuries There has been an important first aid update in relation to heat injury treatment and unfortunately this one comes off the back of a tragedy. In 2015, a 15 year old boy suffered a severe heat injury while training for rugby league in Perth WA. He was training on one of the hottest days of the year with the mercury topping 44.4 that day. During some training drills, he collapsed, was helped to his feet and thought to be okay. It was only when ...he collapsed the second time that the people around him started to think something was wrong. The distinction this has drawn has been the difference between a mild heat injury - heat exhaustion and a severe heat injury - heat stroke. These two conditions have been treated the same way for a number of years but after the findings in this case, a distinction in diagnosis and treatment has been recommended. The key points are: - If a person shows sign of altered mental state or consciousness, including inability to co-ordinate movement, in a setting potentially conducive to heat stroke, lay the person down in shade and raise the persons legs. - If the persons condition does not improve within a few minutes, apply aggressive cooling techniques (strip, soak and fan or, preferably if available, ice water immersion or ice water soaked towels) and call 000. - One critical detail mentioned was - people who collapse AFTER exertion usually have heat-exhaustion people who collapse DURING exertion may have heat-stroke We are currently designing new scenarios to reflect this update and will be dealing with it in depth in our upcoming courses. If your worried about heat stroke or would like an update at your school, business or club get in touch with us at [email protected] Coroners report: https://buff.ly/2HJhSv8 Resus Council Guideline: https://buff.ly/2HBTuvf (see heat injury halfway down the page)

03.01.2022 Dont have one of these good good bois knocking around? Organise a group CPR refresher with All Aid First Aid! That or train your pooch folks! DM us for info

03.01.2022 When we talk about managing the scene, getting more responders and being prepared for the long haul when it comes to CPR - this is exactly what were talking about. Uban environment, trained people on the scene, medics arrived and they still had to continue CPR for nearly 2 hours with a postive result! The gentleman in question is okay, and has a lot of people to thank for it. An amazing story, if you havent booked a CPR refresher with All Aid, get amongst it people, a simple technique could save a life!

02.01.2022 Folks we have a fun team building first aid game called time to triage that we crack out with some groups. Points for correct treatments, points off for incorrect treatments against a running timer. Tonight one team (1st grade - demoted by me to 10th grade) got the worst ever score of -4! Time to book a course and touch up on their skills I reckon!

01.01.2022 Folks were still on the lookout for a Senior Trainer. If you've got a Cert IV in Training and Assesmsent and a few first aid quals, hit us up!
