22.01.2022 This week our debating teams participated in online debating for round two of the Premiers Debating Challenge against Balgowlah North Public School. First, the AH Anacondas team of Annika, Claire, George and Sophia were up against BNPS Team Manning. The Anacondas took the negative stance on the topic that year 5 and year 6 kids should have to cook dinner for their families one night a week. Next, the AH Hyenas team of Jessie, Georgie, Ollie and Charlie were up against BNP...S Team Bardoo. The Hyenas took the affirmative stance on the topic that all kids should have to save any money they receive until they are 18. Both debates were interesting and full of quality arguments! Well done to both teams on their efforts and congratulations to the Hyenas who were successful in winning their debate.

22.01.2022 Today our school leaders did an excellent job of running our term 2 Honour Assembly by Zoom. Each class took part in their classrooms and watched the videos made earlier this week of students receiving their term 1 awards for respect, responsibly and resilience and term 2 awards for effort or achievement in creative arts. Swimming age champions received their medals and the Allambie Singers performed.

21.01.2022 Staff and students are happy to be back at school and enjoying face to face teaching.

21.01.2022 As governments are trying to figure out how to ease back into a new normal, please remember: Some people dont agree with the suggested reopening.... thats okay. Be kind. Some people are still planning to stay at home...thats okay. Be kind. Some are still scared of getting the virus and a second wave happening...thats okay. Be kind. Some are sighing with relief to go back to work knowing they may possibly save their business or their homes...thats okay. Be kind.... Some are thankful they can finally have a surgery they have put off...thats okay. Be kind. Some will be able to attend interviews after weeks without a job...thats okay. Be kind. Some will wear masks for weeks...thats okay. Be kind. Some people will rush out to get the hair or nails done...thats okay. Be kind. The point is, everyone has different viewpoints/feelings and thats okay. Be kind. We each have a different story. If you need to stay home, stay home. But be kind. If you need to go out, just respect others when in public and be kind! Dont judge fellow humans because youre not in their story. We are all different....so remember, be kind

The school leaders and Mrs Helsloot ran the assembly from the library and students watched this on their classroom interactive boards and joined in with the School Song and National Anthem. Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards were presented. Congratulations to our school leaders for presenting so well and to all students for participating. We look forward to returning to our usual assembly format in the future.

18.01.2022 This week our debating teams participated in online debating for round three of the Premiers Debating Challenge against Seaforth Public School. First, the AH Anacondas team of Annika, Evie, Claire and Sophia were up against the Seaforth Sharks. The Anacondas took the negative stance on the topic that primary schools should start each day with a 30 minute exercise class. They argued that students should be concentrating on more complex subjects such as English and mathemati...cs in the beginning of the day and that overall, students were quite active already. Next, the AH Hyenas team of George, Ollie, Georgie and Jessie were up against Seaforth Dolphins. The Hyenas took the negative stance on the topic that we should ban all unhealthy food at school". They argued that students are taught about healthy food guidelines and therefore should be able to enjoy "sometimes" foods and that obsessing over a healthy diet can at times lead to poor mental health. Both debates were again very interesting and full of strong arguments! Well done to both teams on their efforts and congratulations to the Hyenas who were successful in winning their debate.

17.01.2022 The Premiers Debating Challenge officially started for our two AHPS teams who debated each other at school today. The topic for the debate was that primary school children should learn from home one day a week... pertinent for our current global pandemic! Both the affirmative team - the AH anacondas...Evie, Claire, Sophia and Annika, and the negative team - the AH hyenas... Jessie, George, Georgie and Ollie had some fantastic arguments that no doubt came from their own lea...rning from home experiences earlier in the year. Official adjudicator, Kate, Zoomed in for the debate and awarded the debate win to the negative team. A fantastic first debate for both teams and we wish both teams well for their upcoming Zoom debate against Balgowlah North PS in week 8!
