22.01.2022 A big shout out to the many volunteers from Rural Fire Brigades and Qld Fire & Rescue in attending to the recent fire around Allawah. A sincere thank you to ALL for giving time and energy to a job well done.

21.01.2022 During this month of February, Rosemary & Maurie will be taking a break from hosting guests. We'll be happy to chat with you on the phone or answer your email query to arrange your booking for 2021. Lodges will be available again from Monday 1st March.

20.01.2022 As the new owners, an unexpected break from guests at Allawah Retreat has been a very busy time for us. We've been working hard to make sure everything is ready for you when we re-open on 1st June 2020. Here’s Maurie attaching the shade sail outside Tree Tops Lodge.

19.01.2022 Hey friends. We've recently completed a scheduled burn of some land behind the Retreat, but most of our serene bush was untouched by the flames. There’s still so much to see here like this lizard resting quietly on a stick. Can you spot him? And the beautiful views from the spa on your deck are unchanged. We’d love to see you soon.

17.01.2022 With nights a little cooler, it's time to stoke up the fire. It's not hard yakka getting wood but we still raise a sweat as the days are clear, warm and sunny. Here's a load of wood on its way to the little wood sheds at each lodge. It will keep you cosy of an evening - and the port will too!

16.01.2022 This week the 'Moonlight' grevilleas are in full flower. Along with 'Honey Gem' these grevilleas are known as "Queensland hybrids", with at least one species native to Queensland in their parentage. We love them so much we named our cabins after them!

15.01.2022 Blue sunny skies, fresh air, a light breeze and glorious views. See it from our lookout. May is a magical month at Allawah Retreat.

15.01.2022 With restrictions eased, we are pleased to announce that we are now OPEN for guests. We look forward to seeing you soon.

13.01.2022 We are open again as of March 5th. For the energetic, we have two new short tracks to explore, so remember to bring your walking boots!

13.01.2022 Everyone else is enjoying these, why not you?

12.01.2022 White Oak (Bailey's Silky Oak) grevillea baileyana is named after the famous Queensland botanist, F.M. Bailey. Although the flowers of this grevillea can be striking in green, white or cream, it is the foliage and new growth which are truly spectacular. The underside of the leaves can vary from silver through to gold. To watch the branches sway in the breeze, lit by yellow afternoon light, is one of life's great pleasures here in the wet tropics.

07.01.2022 We saw this little fellow (Chlamydosaurus kingii) earlier in the week. Relaxing and blending in with the dry country bush. A good lesson there for all of us.

07.01.2022 Stage 2 of the Road to Recovery, 12th June, allows tourism accommodation establishments to reopen.
