This morning I was reflecting on Dr. Maya Angelou's generous and gifted contributions to the world and came across this piece, which I was unfamiliar with. 09.01.2022 While Viparita Karani or legs up the wall remains my all time fav pose for its restorative and relaxing effects Cobra Pose would be a close second for its back lengthening and strengthening benefits. I wouldn’t recommend the use of blocks in later poses however but interested to know your thoughts!

01.01.2022 One of my students, who is relatively new to yoga, commented that he often goes to sleep after a late morning yoga class despite sleeping for 7 hours the night before. We had a conversation about why that might happen and it may as simple as residual sleep deprivation. My experience suggests his yoga practice and improved breathing releases chronic tension from his body which in turn has produced a state of physical and psychological relaxation and restoration....
