24.01.2022 Summer Pool Safety As the summer holiday season is fast approaching, it’s the perfect time to enjoy a good splash in the pool to cool off and have fun. It is also important to remember that pool gates require regular maintenance to ensure the closing mechanisms are still working adequately, particularly after a period where the gates have not been used frequently. We recommend regularly checking that the pool gate self-closes and self-latches from all positions at all times (from wide open to literally millimetres from the latch). If you’re walking to another area of the beach and your bag will be sitting unattended, take it with you. This is a bit easier to work around if you’re going to the beach with friends. Simply have one of your friends guard your stuff.... Keep your eye on your things from the ocean If you’re going swimming, keep your bag within your view. Use your umbrella, your chair, or a brightly coloured item as a marker for your place, and regularly glance over to check on it. Keep your things away from the tide When you set your things down on the beach, make sure that it’s sufficiently far from the water. Especially if you’re on the beach later in the day, the tide is slowly going to crawl up much further than you might ever think! Hide your valuables well If you have keys, wallets, phones, or cash inside your bag, place them at the very bottom. If you use unremarkable items to cover up your previous ones, you may discourage or prevent any burglar from even having the time to look around your bag to find items worth stealing. \ Pack Light Whenever you go to the beach, make sure to take as little as you can to the sand. 08.01.2022 Keeping Your Vehicle Secure When Visiting The Beach This Summer With Summer just around the corner many of us will be visiting the beautiful beaches here on the Central Coast. It is important to remember to lock your car and put your keys in a safe place when visiting the beach - not in the sand! Stolen keys are one of the most common methods of vehicle theft and the beach is a common area targeted by thieves. The majority of new cars are fitted with central locking, meaning ...a savvy thief doesn't need to know which car the keys belongs to, they can simply click the remote controlled key for the relevant car to flash its lights and unlock. You can purchase magnetic key safes that can be hidden underneath your vehicle. You can also get a spare "just-metal" key cut that will lock/unlock either your car doors or your trunk, that way you can leave the chunk of keys in your car somewhere accessible by the "just-metal" key. Attach the just-metal key to your body (being just metal the key is also waterproof).
