21.01.2022 Allconstruct was engaged by Kane Constructions under a Lump Sum contract by the Department of Housing & Public Works to deliver the Gold Coast Recreation Centre Accommodation Upgrade Stage 2 project. The scope of works consisted of the staged demolition within the operational grounds of the Tallebudgera Leisure Centre and refit of five exiting student accommodation cabins to comply with ambulant and PWD building codes. The project also included the infill construction of fiv...e double storey cabins between the existing live buildings, mounted on sandy foundations. Contractually, the project has been divided into Separable Portion 1 (SP1) and Separable Portion 2 (SP2). The SP1 scope of works included Buildings 1 & 2 only, and SP2 included Buildings 3, 4 & 5, commencing immediately following Practical Completion and handover of SP1. The main objective of works was to upgrade the bathroom/wet areas of the existing units within Buildings 1 5. This was achieved through the amendment of the building substructure to accommodate necessary falls to shower wastes, compliant bathroom fixtures to comply with local and national building codes, as well as the new build of infill units to accommodate increased public and student numbers visiting the centre. Another high value project completed on-time and within budget. Top work team.
